I'm not going for absolute historical accuracy, but I wanted to get a semi-victorian style wedding dress made with some patterns I've bought off of a site.

Does anyone know of any reliable tailors that could work on such things?

Since you aren't concerned about historical accuracy, it shouldn't be that expensive. Especially if you already have a pattern.

Consult some smaller bridal shops in the area or local alterations/seamstresses. Many of them do side work. One of the bridal boutiques I looked at buying my dress from had 5 or 6 gowns she was handmaking.

Especially with small bridal stores, the owner may not do them herself but frequently knows someone who does.

Does your tailor have to be in Georgia? Could you have it made somewhere else, and get a local person to alter it if needed? I know a great dress maker who has made everything from wedding dresses to theatrical costumes, but she lives in California. Post again if you you'd consider this route and I'll try to figure out a way to get contact information to you without posting somebody private info on a public site like this.

Our friends had their wedding garments made through a costume shop. The owner also made costumes for local theater companies. Alot of the bridal party & guests rented clothes from the costume shop to wear at the wedding & reception which the bride and groom had requested that we come in costume if possible.

Call the local playhouse and see who their costume designers are. They have to be skilled in making clothing from all sorts of periods.
