They are ok for smaller catfish. I fish them by theirself on a hook (with no other bait)
I keep them cold and fresh and use a treble hook . (wrap the liver around the shank of the hook and slide down on the points it holds them well)

A guy I sometimes fish with uses them and has pretty good luck with them. Catfish really seem to like chicken livers. In calm water you can just place them on the hook as is. If you're fishing in rougher waters though they suggest you cut a small piece of a pair nylon stockings and make like a little bag to wrap the liver in and hook it on.

chicken livers work great for cats and you don't have to hook them with anything else. just fish on the bottom with a chicken liver and you'll probably catch some keepers!!!

Livers works good and if you do use them look for the Mustad liver hook(it is a double hook with a pin)!
