Did you ever stop to think, "WHY" would something be a sin?

Have you ever?

Example:
Why would being gay be a sin? It doesn't hurt anyone.
Or:
Why would eating shrimp be a sin? Again, it doesn't hurt anyone.
Why would being BORN be a sin? The baby didn't DO anything!!
Why would being born without married parents be a sin? Again, it doesn't hurt anybody!!

What bad have these people really done?
Why is it a sin?

Have you ever asked yourself that?

I am a Christian in my belief. I believe strongly in God and Jesus. I do not judge what others do that isn't what i was put here for. I think we should be there for someone who might have a question about our belief and help in any way we can. I personally like Christianity because it has laws that make sense to me. I can understand how people are hardened by the world and some of its events. I just believe there is something better out there than what we are exposed to in everyday life. I know alot say there isnt a God because of all the tragedy we see everyday on the news. Alot of the tragedies are brought on by ourselves though and I learned that the hard way. I just took a new route myself and find it to be pleasing to me and made me a happier person as I hope everyone else will achieve that one day. As long as there is breath in us there is hope.

Häβlich,

Did you ever think that the creator makes the rules....not the created?

Can explain how we got here other than in the post-volcanic era (that makes our pollution look like a great day) life randomly came about? This random occurrence was coupled with life "knowing" how to change light to food. Can you do that now?

And it had to come "knowing" how to reproduce.

Then, it had to mutate so the mutation ate itself and considered its waste products "life essentials." This was how the "delicate balance of nature" was created.

If there was no creator, then you have to logical explain the cause and effect chain reaction from the first life to now without any gaps. If you can connect those gaps, you can certainly make the connections between your questions and the answers.

The only one on your list that is a sin the gay one and I admit I dont know why it is and dont care if some one is gay.

The rest are crap and you know it. Show me were it says eating shrimp is a sin? Or being born? Or being born to unwed parents? It says sex before marriage is a sin I think but not being born out of wedlock.

Sin is anything that is not God's will for us.

Homosexuality is sin.

We are under the new covenant and we can eat anything.

Children are sinners only in the meaning of that they are not God. They are saved if they die before they are old enough to choose God.

Jesus died for all of our sins. We all can be forgiven. If you think that you are good by God's standards and you never sin, you might have a problem accepting God;s standard.

of course i've thought about it, and a lot of the time, the bible will tell you why God has commanded us not to do this or that. in the end, it's always better for us not to sin, even if it seems like a good idea at the time.

in short, God gave us commandments because He wants us to be happy and live our lives to the fullest. in order to do that, we have to make a few sacrifices.

''you shall have no other gods.''
why?
because there is only one true God, and He knows what we need even more than WE do. money is a god. football is a god. social status is a god. there's nothing wrong with any of them on their own, but when we make them to be more important than anything else, we will inevitably be unhappy.

''you shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.''
why?
because... look at all the harm that comes to us when we do that. people misuse the name of God in order to kill, make war, opress, etc.

''remember the sabbath day by keeping it holy.''
why?
we all need rest. we all need God. the sabbath day is a day set aside so that we will make time to rest our bodies and feed our spirit.

''honor your father and mother.''
why?
our parents brought us into the world, fed us, nurtured us, gave us sound morals (hopefully). there's no reason that we shouldn't try to honor them. that doesn't mean we have to go out and make a billboard saying how great they are. all that means is that we should live our lives the best we can, and if we do that, mom will be proud/honored.

''you shall not commit murder.''
why?
i don't think i even need to comment on that. it's pretty obvious.

''you shall not commit adultery.''
why?
if i'm married, and i go out and get laid, it's gonna cause big big problems when my wife finds out. if i'm NOT married, and i go out and get laid, i'm gonna be tempted to compare my experiences with previous partners with my experiences with my future wife. if my future wife falls short of my previous sexual experiences, i can very easily become resentful of that.

''you shall not steal.''
why?
somebody worked hard for whatever it is you're trying to steal. you wouldn't want someone to steal from you, so don't do it.

''you shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.''
why?
gossip and lies can do nothing productive. they can only cause damage. people will fight and bicker and argue based on what someone said. it's hard to trust someone after you've known them to lie.

''you shall not covet your neighbor's house.''
why?
you can't be happy if all you do is compare your own posessions with those of others. you can't be happy if you compare yourSELF with others. there will always be someone who has more than you do, or is ''better'' than you. be happy with what you have, and try to be the best YOU that you can be.

''you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.''
why?
again, the basis is the same. we shouldn't admire our neighbor's (''neighbor'' meaning anyone and everyone) posessions to the point that we value ourselves based on what we do or don't have. we shouldn't plot and scheme in order to get what we want.

i don't know who told you that being born to unwed parents is a sin. that's just silly, not to mention unbiblical. gay sex is a sin because it's unnatural. i know that will offend people, but it's true. if it were the natural way, two men would be able to concieve a baby. so far, i haven't seen that happen.

The only one of your examples that is a sin is being gay. Homosexuality is a sin. The others, are not. Don't know where you are getting your information from.
