Supposedly adultery is a sin right? But what would happen if both partners agree, and allow it? If they both do it to eachothers knowledge is it still a sin? For example swingers?

The Bible says "What GOD has joined together, let not man separate."
Matthew 19:6

Swingers? Why don't you post this question for "swingers only" and just ask the swingers what they think. Stop trying to stir the pot asking such questions of the mainstream. You know what most people will say and the majority of folks think that "Yes, it is a sin and it is a bad idea" and they have answered as such.

If it is a sin, well that depends if you practise religion. Is swinging a great idea? Well, I know a couple who swing who are in marital crisis right now. So....you deduce.

God says that it's wrong. By the way, apparently adultery only means with a married woman. Single women can't commit adultery. It's coveting somebody else's wife that's the problem. The way mythology works is that everybody agrees or disagrees about roles to play by buying into archetypes. So long as there is a valid mythology to fit those roles into, it's deemed to be effective. But the Bible condemns mythology as a way of doing things anyway, so that doesn't work either.

1 Timothy 1:4
nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. These promote controversies rather than God's work—which is by faith.

1 Timothy 4:7
Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales; rather, train yourself to be godly.

2 Timothy 4:4
They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.

Titus 1:14
and will pay no attention to Jewish myths or to the commands of those who reject the truth.

In my opinion no. In fact, if you read the Bible carefully nowhere does it address consensual sex between adults. It does however address stealing a man's wife.

In 2 Samuel Chapter 12 David is in trouble not for having many wives, but for killing Uriah the Hittite and taking his wife.

12:7 Then Nathan said to David, "You are the man! This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul.

12:8 I gave your master's house to you, and your master's wives into your arms. I gave you the house of Israel and Judah. And if all this had been too little, I would have given you even more.

12:9 Why did you despise the word of the LORD by doing what is evil in his eyes? You struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and took his wife to be your own. You killed him with the sword of the Ammonites.

Notice the word "wives" and the phrase "And if all this had been to little I would have given you even more." God was not angry at David for having many wives, he was angry at him for killing another man and taking his wife.

Many, many Biblical men of God had multiple wives, or in other words, consensual sex with more than one spouse, and God was okay with it. So what's changed today? Personal opinion and biases of those that have "taught" the Bible throughout the ages.

Many people I know have no problem reconciling this because swinging and polyamory is "sharing", not stealing one's spouse. It only becomes a sin when there is injustice and harm done to someone.

Adultery is a sin against God as it is a rebellious act contrary to his design of marriage.

Heb 13:4 Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.

Sin or not, it's a bad idea.

STDs, insecurity, bad feelings; all good reasons why adultery is not a good plan. Sex should be an expression of love between two people, adultery cheapens that love.

That would be breaking the marital vows.

If you believe adultery is a sin (which i do), then that counts for all sexual activities outside of the marriage.

I guess for it be a sin you would have to worship a book that was written by mortal men, edited several times over 2000 yrs. I persoanlly believe there is a god but have a really tough time believing that he wanted us to worship a book written by man.

hi there!

Bible states that "each one is tried by being drawn out and enticed by his own desire. Then the desire, when it has become fertile, gives birth to sin." (James 1:14, 15)

It applies to both man and woman...
