I believe that if we actually 'thought' (for ourselves), then we wouldn't look to any kind of "high priest" regardless of their title.
While these 'outside' and fallible authorities have been with us, and will probably be with us beyond the 21st Century, the faster the common man learns think for themselves and NOT look or depend upon ANY authority other than the 'authority of their soul', then we will continue to run the risk of being misled--purposefully OR not.

For those who are in Christ Jesus their is only one High Priest.That would be Jesus who is the Son of the living God.
