I am taking vicodin for a really bad tooth ache just untill I get to a dentist tomorrow. I know it wears off in 6 hours, does that mean I can breastfeed my son 6 hours after I take one? I am going to be taking one every six hours ( or after I breastfeed- if I can) and he has never had formula before - what do I do to be safe?

It is ok to take Vicodin and breastfeed. I just had my son 4 months ago and I was given a prescription of vicodin in the hospital. Like you I also breastfeed. I talked to the doctor and they said that it will not effect the baby. Hope you get to feeling better!

dont take the pain pills they dont leave your system for 3 days or longer take some motrin and deal with the pain
