Hello. Im in a band that has a musical style that is very similar to "Tool". obviously, i play guitar and im currently using an Ibanez, which im ready to get rid of. I want to sound as similar to tool as possible without spending 2000 dollars on a gibson les paul, because thats what adam jones(the guitarist of Tool) uses. Because of the affordable prices and similarities to gibson, im thinking about getting an epiphone les paul. which one do you think i sould get?

The Epiphone is definitely a good choice. You probably know that Epiphone is Gibson's "value" line, so the guitar will be pretty close to a Les Paul. Keep in mind that there are many varieties of "Les Paul" guitars from Gibson and Epiphone, and some of these are very heavy. The Les Paul Standard is quite heavy -- the Les Paul Studio is much lighter, although it's still heavier than a Fender Strat or Tele. Go to a music store and try it out before you buy... I wouldn't want to strap on a Les Paul Standard for a two-hour show.

Edit:

The Gibson SG is a very nice guitar. Enjoy!
