like walking to Canterbury or other holy sites in Britain, I don't think i have ever seen a pilgrim.

Yes. The Camino to Santiago de Compostela in Galicia is probably today's best travelled Christian pilgrimage in Europe. See link for details.

Yes Christian people go on pilgrimages, but usually they fly by plane (if if is overseas) or drive by car. I have known of many people visiting holy sites around the country and world.

Yes,but many don't walk all the way as at Compostella. Many go on package tours with buses or lorries and nice hotels. I have gone on many pilgrimages ,but the 2 most fruitful have been to Mass at my church down the street and to Jesus living in my heart and Who is seeking to go as a pilgrim to others in need through me.

If you ask an average christian what a pilgrimage is they wouldnt have a clue what you are talking about.
