I agree with the guy that said to just replace the bulb with a 12 volt one. You should be able to find one in the same style with no problem.

A 6 volt regulator with a heat sink and reasonable capacitor will handle this nicely, about the size of a D cell or a little larger.

The other option is to get another 6 volt light and hook up the two of them in series, then connect them to the battery.

Change the bulb for a 12volt one!
