It is not actually a leaf--it is a type of fruit called a samara or a key. Several kinds of trees have samaras; trees in the genus Acer (maples and box elder) have double samaras; ash trees have canoe-paddle shaped samaras. You can tell what kind of a tree it came from if you are a "good samaraton" (sorry).
