Actually it is always up to the business owner whether or not they want to allow animals into their shop. With today's society more stores are allowing tiny dogs which people carry in purses to accompany thier owners. I know that many pet stores will allow you to bring a pet in, as long as they are on a leash. There is no reason that it would be nationally accepted to bring only one breed into shops and not others. That's doggy discrimination, and we all know its wrong
:)

The only case where this isn't true would be in England. Due to the fact that the royal family back in history allowed thier cavaliers with them. In England cavalier king charles spaniels can even visit the buildings of parliment. However that is not the case in the US

Wow never heard of that.. but apparently its true, though i think shop owners would have something to say about it if you did... and if you explained why im sure theyd just think you were mad.

" King Charles II went so far as to issue a decree that the King Charles Spaniel could not be forbidden entrance to any public place, including the Houses of Parliamen"

Not sure if this still stands anyway im sure it doesnt.

yes absolutely. I had a cavalier king charles saniel for a day. The next morning when he got his vet check we had to return him. The vet said that every cavelier has at least a touch of mitral valve disease. All though my heart was set on these dogs, I didn't get one because of the health issues. I now have a 5 month old sheltie who is the light of my life. I hope i helped

Only the ones trained as sniffer dogs and owned by the police.

Come on - no responsible owner would take a dog into a shop unless it is a guide dog and even then most blind people will leave their dogs outside!

I do not have a dog now but all mine happily sat outside shops - off the lead and would not stray or take any food offered.

My dog rarely went on a lead as it was under control but that said although I knew it was safe around animals it always went on the lead in fields where animals were present.

There is a law in England that Cavaliers be allowed to go anywhere even into parliment. I read that in my Cavalier magazine. But not in the states if that's what your wondering.

I think it's quite outdated now but I also read (in a dog mag, I think) that because of their association with the Royal family they were allowed anywhere.

They are, but I doubt you will be allowed. I've never tried it with mine due to her being untrustworthy as she's still a puppy. I have seen Corgis in pubs, too. I don't know if that is related.

yes they can go anywhere...i even read in a book a long time ago, that they can wander into a pub, lie down on the floor or jump up on one of the chairs, and they cannot be thrown out....you just have to let them leave of their own free will....wish i could do that lol

in the uk only guide dogs are allowed in 'public'places. dogs can go in some pubs but each has their own rules. basically where there is food there are no dogs. also shopping malls do not permit dogs either.
