I was in the ring the other day and realize that my reflexes were quite shocking. I was up against a really fast boxer and couldnt tell were the punches were coming from. Any way to improve this situation? pros and boxing fans alike welcome to answer. Thanks.

Quick reflexes are athletic talent. It's a talent. You can't buy it or learn it. You either have quick reflexes or not. That's why some pro athletes make $10 million a year. They have the quickest reflexes in the world. And they are strong and agile plus other attributes, but quick reflexes is one of the criteria of a good athlete. To improve it you could try shadow boxing, jumping rope for the hands or play another sport, like squash, that could improve your reflexes. Regardless it's all about talent.

There isn't anything you can't do if you put your mind to it. Remember, that no matter how fast your opponent is, he's not going to damage your eyeballs because he cant hit them, there surrounded by bone, (don't you have a trainer to tell you these things ?) so keep them open and you'll see where the punches are coming from, and you'll know when to throw one. Now, ever try batting flies on the wing with the palm of your hand, Try it on a regular basis for a fortnight or so, I know it sounds silly but it works. You wont get anything better to speed up your reflexes. Good Fortune.
PS, I'm seventy years old and you still wont find a fly in my home. LOL

At close range have someone throw a wrench at you!!! If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a punch!!!!, lol.

Listen, if you don't have quick reflexes on defense quit moving your hands, set your hands in place. Don't over-react to feints just leave you hands in place unless you are going to deliver a punch. After you punch, bring your hand right back!!! If you cannot get your hand to where you are being punched before the punch gets there, then leave you hands in place and slip, or duck punches....

Keep Your Hands Up!!!!

alright i don't know if this helps but if you sort of notice video games have a good sense in developing reflexes, you can play games, dodge ball, or pratice, if that doesn't work then just try to out smart your opponent next time, just think about when's the next punch coming and WHERE hes going to throw it

dribble a tennis ball, play table hockey/tennis or even dodge ball. They help alot...everything comes with practice.

All you can do is practice.

Your brain is a big muscle and the more you use certain pathways in it, the easier it will be to use them.
