Alright ma'am, you and I were in the same boat. Last October, I weighed 294 lbs and now I weigh 209 lbs and dropping. Want to know how I lost it? I busted my ***. I didn't worry about what I ate, I just busted my ***. What you have to do is convince yourself that there is no way in hell you are going to go on looking the way you do. If you want change and transformation, you must realize that it comes from you and you alone. Here's some tips: Don't drink as much soda, stay away from junk food. Easy enough. Also, when you're starting out, the best thing to do is walk. Preferably, three times a day for 30 minutes each. Keep your pace up, and if you build up a little sweat you know it's working. ;) It takes patience, but it can be done. I'm living proof. Just try not to get discouraged, because it could be a while before the pounds start dropping off.

Not yet. You don't want to hurt yourself by too much exercise at this point. Maybe 4 times a week is okay. Make sure you have a healthy diet in conjunction with execise. It takes 3500 calories to lose 1 lb, so between eating less and working out you should have an excess of that amount of calories or more to lose weight. I think you are on the right track!

I'd suggest hooking up with a personal trainer; they can help you out with a workout regimen. Also talk to your doctor about a referral to a nutritionist/dietician.

My suggestion would be at least four days a week along with a healthy diet. Remember, this isn't just to lose weight, it's a total lifestyle change.

I commend you on your decision to lose weight. That takes a lot of guts. I'll keep you in my prayers. I will drink a strawberry smoothie for ya :)

NO. do not add more work outs to your routine. Instead, start having fun that requires a lot of physical activities, and that makes those workouts more enjoyable too, like swimming, or hiking, or even bowling or softball, or even dancing (without drinking) such as square or tangos (just none of that sex on the dance floor stuff). or anything that gives you more positive reasons to keep the workouts going. That hightened activity will give you a better weight control and loss than the workouts, while the workouts will keep you from getting injured from the activities. thus they are perfect symbiotic functions. And you will enjoy it more too.

Hi Wanda,

You have to state what your routine is, and your age.

Generally speaking, working out 3 times a week will maintain your weight.

Doing cardio for at LEAST 30 minutes, 4 days a week will allow weight loss.

Lifting weights 2 days a week will create a denser body and burn calories.

You don't want to burn out, or hurt yourself, so I wouldn't do too much more working out. It's suggested that you start out walking for 30 min per day 4 times a week. Also, you can lose weight by cutting down on portion sizes when you eat and working in healthier choices that you like.

It depends on what kind of workouts you are doing. But to speed up the process i would do five to six day a week for weight loss,, 3 times a week is more of a maintenance regimen. Just remember to loose you must burn more than you put in...

I think there is much more involved here, not because of your size so don't take that wrong. Keep excercising and change you food habits. No eating after 6pm, drink lots of cold water, cut back on sugars as much as possible. This will give you headaches until you get used to it. I always have one small carton of chocolate milk every other day as my treat for my hard work. Good luck!

3 times a week is just maintaining what you have,, increase the times you go and the duration,,, anything 30 minutes or less is pointless as it takes some people 30min just to start to burn fat.. WAY TO GO for actually getting out there ...i wish you all the best...
