accept Christ as your savior and honestly seek and work to follow him, accept the bible as God inspired and true,
Then are you a "true christian"?
but... if you decide after a few years you don't believe it, you were never really a true christian?
Is that it?

Sounds like you're having a dry spell, all Christians do. I don't know how old you are, but if you have only been Christian for a few years and are an adult convert you may have been evangelized, but not discipled. Many times, people "get saved" and then get hung out to dry. You need follow up. Your question, "I'm saved, now what?" was never answered. Get into a good Bible believing and teaching church. Don't just go to service and potluck once in a while. Go to the Bible study and/or adult Sunday School. If it is a Bible teaching church, there will be one, believe me. Are you a true Christian? A True Christian believes in and trusts Jesus, not himself. Like the line in the children's hymn, "Jesus Loves Me" says, "I am weak, but He is strong."

No...you become a "true Christian" when God acknowledges your faith in Him. God knows hearts and minds. It's not a, "I think I believe"....a true believer knows His truth. It would be impossible for a true believer fall away.
Why would God waste His truth on someone He knows will turn against Him later? He wouldn't and He doesn't.

A Christian is someone who has a relationship with Jesus Christ. If one decides one day to reject Christ, and their relationship with Christ, you have terminated your relationship. The term " True Christian" comes from those who believe just saying they believe in Jesus makes them born again and makes them a Christian. There is alot more to a relationship with Jesus then just saying one is a Christian

As long as you believe that:
1) Christ died for you religious sins and
2) accept him as the solution to forgive your sins
then you are a Christian.
All else is really extra stuff.

I would really question anybody saying they were Spirit filled and then saying they no longer believed. I have met people who have backslid but they cannot deny the truth even tho' they are no longer practising. I believe that once you meet Christ, you cannot say He doesn't exist.

Once saved always saved. Because the Bible says so. End of discussion.
"If we are faithless, he will remain faithful, for he cannot disown himself." (2 Timothy 2:13)
"Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life...." (John 3:36)

You've lost your faith!but your still a christian
Why?
It really doesn't matter, you`ll find it again and hey God still loves you and will never lose faith in you after all we are HIS children.
He`s already sent his son to pay for your disbelief and pay he did.
You are free to do as you please but is it your decision or Satan's. one day you`ll return
