Although techincally possible, it is not recommended in virtue of the lose of precious essential oils and flavor that fresh basil leaves are rich in.

No. That wouldn't work out like you would like it. Dried basil leaves are too concentrated to use here. Would you use 2 cups of dried basil leaves? I am sorry but it wouldn't turn out like fresh basil pesto. Really 2 cups of dried basil is too much. Again the flavor of dried herbs are very strong and concentrated so you always use less than you would use for fresh herbs. Try making this when you have fresh basil available. Or if you really need a sauce and only have dried basil then combine them with a can of tomatoes and you can have marinara instead.

No I wouldn't recommend it. You can use spinach, broccoli rabe, asparagus, arugula, or parsely though. It will give it a different taste, but will still be yummy.
