Americans won't do construction work? Strange - my husband was in "cunstruction" (correct spelling 'construction').
Strange that I know of many that work in that field that are having their wages cut because of the massive influx of illegals in that area of work.
Cuts in wages do indeed have a negative effect upon American workers.
So much for uninformed comments about Americans.
I don't have a problem with any particular group of people.
I do not support people breaking the known laws of any country - which includes Mexico's laws as well.
The keyword that many have problems with is "illegal" actions on the part of people from foreign countries within the borders of the United States. That is what Americans have a problem with.

it doesnt all start and end with being a "hard worker". illegals and the cronie big bizz corporations that use them make a mockery of supply and demand labor costs.
also, illegal still means illegal. why don't you ask, why do you have a problem with any other law that a group chooses to ignore? it's just not supposed to work that way.
and if you think you are going to get much symapthy for the immigration issues that exist between the us of a and mexico from most americans, best stop protesting and demanding "rights" that mexicans arent supposed to have here in the first place!
and one more suggestion, QUIT going to the emergency room every time your kid gets a cold! it drives up medical cost to the astronomical level. the doctors will still see you, go through the propper channels and get registered. AND IT WILL STILL BE FREE!
at this point i would prefer a totaly closed border, whatever it takes, and let the price of lettuce and the cost of housing do whatever it might. yeah, it's infaltionary but so the F what? americans will take those jobs when the free market is allowed to operate and the price for labor is what it should be.
OR let's just open the border and get off the BS. no visas, let the drugs roll on in, (it is anyway), and please osama, come on in! then maybe i'll be down in mexico doing what we did 200 years ago and you should have doen years ago, overthrowing your govenment. hmmm think ill call mexico "new us of a"! man, we could make that place a paradise if ya'll were all up here! BUT no trade backs.
happy memorial day, and i hope this helps. jk.

It is NOT so expensive to get papers. It only takes years to become a citizen because more people are coming to this country. Most illegals do not even get papers or WANT to become US Citizens.
Please stop saying that illegals do the jobs that Americans won't. Americans would if they were paid the proper wages!! Americans are hardworkers too!! Who do you think did all those jobs before the US was invaded by illegals?????
Americans have problems with illegals because 1) they are ILLEGAL, 2) they DEMAND the US to give them amnesty, 3) Spanish is almost everywhere (other immigrants came to the US and learned to speak English, why can't illegal mexicans??) 4) they break laws and increase crime rates, 5) they hurt the US economy, 6) they do not pay taxes, 7) they force Americans to pay for their health and medical costs, .....
The list is endless!!!

The channels of immigration need to be liberalized, but the services that are given should be restricted. Legalization of migrants woud make it easier to control the borders, and the tighting of the border will only make drug runners more bold, and immigration gonna accelerate with golbalization, and jobs are being sucked out from Mexico, Untied States to china where wages are 20 cents an hour or less, and that means less jobs for the lower skilled workers in some industries. The immigration system as it stand an American themshevles would not quality actually because you need to be supersmart, or have family connections galore. Stronger labor laws, and more workplace enforcement would reduce the demand for migrants, but the problem is what to do with as a result of higher prices for food, low cost services, and be less profit for reinvest in machinery. The agriculture sector in the last 10 years becoming a lot more mechanized than it was in the past so the migrants will move over into other industries like constuction, hotel work, resturarant work, landscarping. I figure a lot of Americans are just plain lazy, and dont want to do hands on work anymore unless it pays over 40k a year. The rising set of expectation will set up American society for a rude awakening, and standard of living will not go up much in the next 30 years because are economy is saturated already with cars, boats, electornics, houses and society needs to make a trade off between better schools, healthcare, safety net, or more comsumer goods, more luxury type cars, etc. Mexicans are hard workers most times and as are regular American citizens, but China, India gonna cause economic resturcting for both economies, and that right there will cause slower economic growth for a least a generation unless we invest more in job retraining, education, and healthcare reform.

Because we cannot get a job without proper ID and filling out an application and proof of social security number. When we see someone get away with stuff that we have to do as citizens, we get angry.
Think it is expensive and the wait is long now? Hope the bill passes and then you have to pay 5000 bucks and then still go back home.

Illegals regardless of country of origin represent a huge void in our nation's security.
Everyone coming into this country should be documented.
I believe that the majority of people entering the U.S. do so without malice. They want what most of us a want, which is a means to provide for their families.
Since slavery was abolished the need for cheap labor has been filled by migrant workers. Those are low skilled and often back breaking jobs with little or no benefits. It's not as though Americans won't do it, but why should we if we can do better?

This is one reason: "They are hardworkers & do the jobs that americans don't like to do like" This is absolutely not true and America is ALWAYS spelled with a capital "A". They come into our country and show no respect for our traditions. They insult us by asking us to learn their language instead of doing what all legal immigrants do. Learn to assimilate into our country. If they have no more respect for our laws than to brake them coming in, they will brake them while they are in. That's a start. Do you need more?

They dont do jobs that Americans dont like is an outright lie. They just drive down wages. There used to be 68 working thru a temp agency at the factory I work at and they were hard to train as they would not or could not speak English. Now those jobs are filled with legal citizens who were having trouble gettting hired. Another instance is in my city the school districet runs 6 weeks of summer school for the children and then says they have to cut programs due to lack of money. They dont pay into the school district and our children are paying the price.

Most people I know don't have a problem with Mexicans. I do however have an issue with illegal immigration. because they are showing from the get go that they do not what to obey the laws of this country. Theres alot of people that are trying to get into this country legally and they are being side-stepped because of the special treatment the illegal ones are demanding they should get. Now that is a little backwards if you ask me. I'm by no means running down Mexicans, they are very , very hard workers and family oreintented. But if they are here illegally then its their own fault for what happens to them and their families. People should accept the results of their own actions.
