Sometimes excessive drinking and peeing is a sign of diabetes just like in humans.
However, this is a very puppy thing to do. Most puppies even though they appear to be house trained, pee in the house. They just need lots reinforcement to fully learn house trained.
And since it's a puppy. Don't let the vet convince you he has a UTI. Most puppies lick themselves. Therefore they leave bacteria, which can give a false negative for a UTI. So unless they take pee straight out of the bladder via catheterization. Don't believe it.

Because it's a 4 month old puppy . That's around the equivalent of a 1 yr old human. You wouldn't expect them to be potty trained, a 4 month old puppy doesn't have the bladder control either.
As soon as you see him/her drinking, rush that little butt outside. Some puppies need to go out every hour, some only every few, it depends on the puppy.
But please, DON'T limit the water intake in hot or humid weather! You may get a puppy that doesn't pee as much, but you'll also get a dehydrated and possibly dead one.

Get his water or feeding time a schedule. Like only 2 times a day. Then after a time, let him run outside your SECURED backyard, and he will pee. He will not pee in the house as often.

i had a dog that did this. he was a diabetic. i had to give him insulin shots and pills twice a day. he then went blind from cataracts. i had them removed. he lived for several years after wards. the cateract removal was expensive but well worth it. the insulin shots are easy but you have to be home at a certain time. have the dog to the vet and check him out.

There are several medical problems that can cause this - as minor as a urinary tract infectionthat can be cured by antibiotics, to major hormonal & metobolic problems that can kill....
OR it can be just a nervous habit or a growing pup...

My Boston did the exact same thing for a few months. I have no clue why, but it did pass.
