Hi, I like to put my can of coke in the freezer for about an hour because It makes it taste really good when you get just a little bit of ice in there. But, apparently I forgot about mine last night..because i awakened to open my freezer only to find a nighmare of blackish sludge coating everything and it was horrible. Now I am faced with the task of mucking it out and disposing of the poor remaining shrapnel of my coke can. What in the world? What made this happen? I didnt know coke cans would explode in the freezer. LOL

I hope you weren't injured. Yes, it happens, and not just with soft drinks. It also happens with beer.

I once worked for a personal injury law firm that handled a case involving an exploding beer keg.

Liquids expand when they are turned to a solid and the can couldn't handle the pressure given off by the the frozen drink. Try setting a timer or something to prevent this from happening.

solids take up more room then liquids so when your coke turned solid, the can couldn't take the pressure.

it sucks when this happens.. been there, done that
