It could mean that, in real life, you feel paralyzed by something or someone. The dream thus becomes a metaphor for your waking life: if I have no voice of my own when awake, then I won't have one when I am asleep.

Also, screaming is a metaphor for 'being heard.' That's more than just talking or making noise, its about saying something about yourself and having it heard and/or respected. Its more than likely you are feeling 'silenced' by something or someone either around you or inside you. Find out what is keeping you from speaking out, and your dreams will feature alot more shouting.

I can scream in my dreams and it wakes me up, scaring the daylights out of my husband! I have punched hubby as well. He wasn't too happy about that or my kicking him either. Fortunately that was unusual and he didn't file for divorce. ;)

It's probably sleep paralysis keeping you from screaming fully. I think I'm just kinda weird.

sleep paralysis. it keeps you from acting out your dreams. thats why sometimes when your running in your dreams it feels like your running through mud. it also affercts your vocal cords which is why you cant scream. you can talk and make some noises & movements in your sleep if they're not too extreme.

Dreams come from the area of the brain that thinks in pictures, therefor most dreams are silent.

LOL idk, very interesting though. my mom said that one time she came into my room to get something and i was mumbling something that sound like "miiimmm plurshgnigom." LOL

in all my scary dreams, i've NEVER screamed. idk why. i think that i'm too scared to scream or somtehing. but i read that when you are in a dream you're basically just watching it because part of your brain is paralyzed and you can't do anything until the dream ends and you're back to light sleeping to waking up point or something. idk. something like that. i read that article a long time ago.
