Well what year are we talking? the Grand CHEROKEE started in '93 and ran to present. We own a '96 with 220,000 miles, and a '00 with 110,000 miles. They work pretty good for us. There are certain years to be wary of. I would find the body style/ engine choice you want and check with consumer reports to see which year with those qualities are the best, then check Kelley Blue book ,and Auto Trader for the price

I own a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 190,000+ miles on it. Just did a tune up on it this weekend. Still runs great, and have had very few problems with it. Radiator replaced at 185,000 miles, and a new starter at approximately 188,000 miles. Other than those 2 replacements nothing major. Keep the oil/filter changed every 3,000 miles, change the air filter every other oil change along with a chassis lube.
My Jeep has the 4.0L inline 6 engine. Has plenty of pulling power (5,000lbs towing capacity). I average 24-26MPG mixed city and highway driving, and my jeep is full time 4WD so if you get one with the option of being able to place the vehicle into 2WD expect a bit better mileage.
This vehicle goes wherever I need it to go, and places I probably shouldn't go, plus the 4WD is great in the winter since I live in Idaho.
Prices will vary from location to location, depending on the quality of the vehicle, how much request there is for that particular vehicle etc. I bought my Jeep in 2004 and paid $7,000 for it, but its the limited edition which has leather seats, premium stereo system, pretty much the only 2 options that it don't have is the sun roof and heated seats.

Mine is a '98 with 148,000. Love it. I have a rare model. Its what they call the 5.9L Limited. Gas prices are a concern because I have to run premium unleaded. I dont complain because its a Jeep Thing :) . Jeeps are good vehicles and as mentioned before, chose wisely. Look for one with a 4.0L in it. Automatic transmission. Prices are coming down so you should be able to get a good deal, especially where there big sellers.....Where I live in the SW corner of Missouri there big sellers

This is THE best car if your looking for a vehicle that LASTS. Mine has 166,000 miles on it and I have heard they go beyond 200,000 miles. Mine is a 1993 with a L6 4.0 engine. In terms on gas milegage they are in the middle. Depending on what year it may get better than others. Ive seen them as low as 1200 dollars. I bought mine for about 3200 dolars. I would highly recomend geting one. Hope this helps.
