...but once did, what made you come to the conclusion that there isn't a God?
I just want to know what made you change your mind about God's existence. Was there a bad experience or just find something better?

I'm just curious. I'm not trying to mock anyone.

I was a Christian from when I was born to about 14.... I went to confirmation camp... a lady prayed to God to warm my cold heart... another prayed that I wouldn't go to hell for swearing... I thought to myself if this is God's people I don't want this... but that was me as a teenager... I actually now have done research read many books on different religions and just came to my own conclusion that their is no God or higher being.... I guess my bad experience led me to question, but other than that my choice was my own...

To clear up your question I wanted to correct something you left out. If one has ever received Christ they cannot truly turn away from him. They may fall away for a short time but will come back to him. If someone ever falls completely away from God then they never had him in the first place and were false converts.

Most often I find the reason people turn their back on God or choose to not believe is becasue someone has shared the idea of atheism with them. Sometimes they look to the church for perfection and after realizing it isn't there and that in fact we are hypocrites then they decide to leave the faith in search of something more perfect, more sound, when in fact there is nothing of the sort in existence.

A hypocrite is someone who will tell you not to do something then go out and do it. Christians say not to sin but then we always sin, we can't help it, it is in our nature. I admit I am a hypocrite, but haven't you ever told someone not to do something that you had already done before. I like to think of it as using your bad experiences to help others.

I pray you find the real answers I think you are searching for!

I didn't understand how an all-loving all-forgiving all-powerful god could also be so hypocritical, egotistical, and judgmental. So I concluded that the Christian god was not for me and nor was Christianity. so I left the church. However I did not become atheist. I still believed there was something out there and after much soul searching decided to become pagan.

It's just incredibly unlikely. There is no proof of God's existence. I don't believe in anything without proof. Science explains the universe well enough for me; I don't need a God. I also think religion is dehumanizing; it takes away the power people have to improve the world and gives it to some far away diety.

Oh, I never believed in God since there never was any reason to. Even in grade school when I heard all this stuff about God and then the various scientific explanations about the universe, I rationally decided that science was more reliable.

people claim that there is no proof that God exists. but there is also proof that He does not exist.

and while i can't see Him, i believe He exists through faith. He has revealed Himself to me in a few ways, one being through the amazing miracle of my brother. He will always be here and i know it.

Ignorant atheists.

I believe there is a god, but I chose to follow a path that opposes what god wishes me to follow for the sole reason that it gets me what I want in this world. A waste of a soul you could call me, but I figure the more truth I know about god, the less I care and the more I choose to follow the path of the wicked and indulge myself in sin, a Satanist in a sort, only I don't actually associate myself with the occult.

These blog entries do a good job of answering that common myth about atheism.
