If you're in to mood to actually read more than Yahoo Answers, go to the University of South Dakota Site: http://www.usd.edu/~theaton/mormon/mason.html

Did you know that Joseph Smith stayed at the home of the widow of William Morgan the Mason who was murdered in 1827 for threatening to expose the secrets of Masory?

I thought not.

Fisher, you seem to be very preoccupied with Mormons lately. Is there anything you want to tell us?
I've read some of your other questions and while I can understand your sense of humor (your question about Christian protests against evolution exhibits in museums is quite wickedly funny) I don't think you should use it to mock people's beliefs. Frankly, I find that mocking rather distasteful, not funny. However, I think this is probably going to fall on deaf ears.
In regards to this question, yes, there are similarities. Actually, I would rather enjoy discussing them in the right time and place. Are we going to discuss it? Not here, not me anyway. You've heard of "not casting your pearls before swine"? If ever there was an application of that, it's here. I doubt that I can dissuade you to remove this question (and no, I'm not going to report you). But you should know that we don't discuss details of the temple ceremony because we regard it as sacred. Too bad that we can't seem to show respect for others' religion.

This is not a really fair question, since the only answers you are going to get are answers from anti-Mormons, who don't necessarily care about truth, or the feelings of others; nor do they really care about what others hold sacred.

As a "temple Mormon", I will not discuss the temple ceremonies. Yes, there are some similarities between them and the Masons, but superficial. That's all I'm going to say.

Both are secret, both are sworn to secrecy and not tell any body or thing about them, both swear upon pain and death. and both are based upon lies.

They are both pointless and have no basis in reality.
