By straightener, do you mean chemical? If so, a flat iron - ceramic and/or tourmaline is the best. If you meant no flat iron, then a styling dryer. The styling dryer is like the ones used in the seventies. Not the pistol dryers but it is large and almost shaped like a large comb but you can switch out the attachments to use either combs or a brush. Conair has a good one, it's called the ION Shine 1875 Styler. I've attached the link for it below.

My hair is short.....(less then shoulder length) so I just put it in a low ponytail and either air dry it or if you want it dry right away just blow dry your hair WHILE it's in the ponytail.
Sometimes the ends are still a little non-straight but just brush it does and maybe with some moose from the dollar store. Hope this helps!! And It works on my and I have EXTREMELY thick hair! Good bless!

1. use a heavy shampoo and conditioner that will make the straightening process easier, like Redken Smooth Down
2. use a silkening product like biosilk while your hair is still wet
3. blow dry your hair using a large bristle brush in 1-2" sections at a time - it will be time consuming, but if you do it right, it'll last longer
4. once your hair is dry, get a good holding spray like "soya want flat hair" by Big and Sexy Hair and divide your hair into one inch sections. spray a little hair spray and use a really good ceramic flat iron. use a fine tooth comb to hold behind the flat iron and run through your hair while straightening.

I am a hairstylist, and some of my clients don't like me to use a flatiron, but want really straight hair. First prep your hair with a straightening balm, then get your hair 80%dry, then section by section, use a big round brush, pulling the hair down. After you are done, use a finishing balm, with a high shine. Good Luck!

blow drying it straight didn't work? are you sure you blow dried every strand for long enough because sometimes the length of time and the amount of heat play a big part. if blow drying really doesnt work you can always consider getting your hair chemically straightened at a salon of somethin

In the late 60's and early 70's before hair straigthener, we laid our long hair across the ironing board and our roomies or best friend ironed it for us and I'm not kidding
