Ok, Jabba, my cat who has been sick is now feeling better. For full story you can read previous questions. Well, I'm not sure it is what the vet had stated, but he is feeling better. He has started to eat, demands food now, and he is drinking and he has went potty. Well today he has started to violently sneeze, he will just start to sneeze over and over and over and it has almost knocked him off balance. Now is the sneezing, like maybe a cold be the reason he has been sick or could the sneezing be another symptom of something else. This is the first time in the 2 years that I have had him that I have actually ever heard him sneeze. There isn't any new plants or anything like that or nothing different in the house. Just curious. Thanks!

Now, I know you can give them allergy medication, but it all depends on their weight and what kind. I would ask the vet, but I'm not happy with our current one and its a holiday, so I can't find out today.. Any ideas? He is 5/6 years old, 16lb neutered male, and stickly an indoor cat.

And no he doesn't have fleas, the vet even said he didn't and we haven't seen anything to suggest otherwise, none of the other cats have them either. And he isn't on medication, we opted not to drug him because the vet just wanted to put him on antidepresents and I didn't feel he was depressed.

First of all, DO NOT GIVE YOUR CAT CHILDREN'S COLD MEDICATION OR ANY OTHER PEOPLE MEDICATION. Many of those medications are fatal to cats and dogs.

The sneezing you describe is most likely related to an upper respiratory infection or allergies. If your kitty is still active, eating and drinking, there is no need to rush him to the vet. If he does start acting sick, besides the sneezing, then he should be taken to a vet. If he has an infection and it's bacterial, he can be given antibiotics to help him fight off the infection. If his infection is viral, he can be treated symptomatically with fluids, decongestants, etc.

If your kitty is experiencing an allergy attack, there's no need to do anything unless it becomes a chronic problem.

Cats who have "stuffy noses" often stop eating since they can't smell or taste their food. This is the main thing to look out for as not eating for a few days can cause a kitty's liver to start to shut down.

You need to have your cat checked at the vet for feline leukemia. If your cat is positive you can give it meds. that will help, but once you stop the meds. all symptoms will return. You need to talk to your vet to see what your options are.
Your cat sneezing all over the place is not healthy for your cat or anyone else in your home. It is very stress full on your cat and can not be cured. Please have your cat tested!!

I know your kitty probably doesnt have fleas, but some cats are highly succeptible to flea dander and it will make the poor dears miserable. Just for the heck of it, try bathing him a couple of times, see if that helps? Maybe the meds you have him on are causing an allergic reaction? Hope kitty feels better soon.

My cat does the same thing...vet said it was allergies. Cats over time can get new allergies to new and old things. There are meds you can get for this.

well it may just be a cold my moms dog has recently caught one and has the sneeze fits too. she gave her a real small dose of childrens cold medicine until she can get her to a vet.
Just make sure its a few drops of Childrens cold.
hold down the cat and drop a few drops in its mouth.

This is obviously a very complicated issue and as you're starting to see, no one on here is going to be able to offer better help than a vet.

If you're not happy with your current vet, please do find another one - get a second opinion from a vet, not Yahoo Answers
