Swedish: när man dircker öl, får man röda kinder (=when one drinks beer, one gets red cheek) if you take the words öl and kinder and put them directly into German, one gets a sentence:
Wen man trinkt Ãl bekommt man rote Kinder (When you drink oil, you get red children)
I saw the word chemical seal translated to another language so that the translation for seal was the animal.So in middle of this engineering text you get these chemical sea animals=seals!!
and so on

ps. the Swedish word fart means speed, not fast. Fast would be snabb in Swedish!
The word for cat is kissa in Finnish -so we call the cats by calling them: kiss, kiss, kiss -which has nothing to do with kissing!

This isn't exactly what you were asking but I used to pass by a hair salon in Montreal called "Crazy Tuque", a tuque being the Canadian word for a winter beanie.
There's also the old pet name (as in sweetheart, honey) in French, "mon petit chou-fleur" meaning "my little caulifllower".

Chez Paul means the house of Paul or the place of paul and is often used in restaurant names. Mon Desire is a restaurant and it means very exclusive. Casa dePaul means house or place of Paul in Spanish and that is also often used for restaurants. In French and Spanish, the adjectives follow the noun so they actually say the frog green etc.

I am originally from NJ and have been living down South for the past 16 years. The way they say things down here is crazy.
Things like "mash the button", "I'm fixin to go to the store", "youngins", "pooting",etc. what I say: "push the button", "mash potatoes", "I'm getting ready to go to the store", "kids or children", "farting or passing gas", etc. So I hear many silly translations all of the time.

I do. My dad knows some Swedish guys and they said that fart in Swedish means fast in English.

'casino' means chaos in Italian
'Pajero' as in the 4x4 car means 'wanker' in Spanish
the Vaxhall 'nova' had to be called differently in Spain because 'no va' means 'it doesn't work', not the most ideal name for a car!
