Boasting and pride doesn't always have to be on a hollywood level.
Sometimes pride slips in even when we don't realize it. Honestly, when's the last prideful moment you've had? And how do you deal with it?

The Bible says God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble. It also compares pride to the sin of witchcraft. Pride was the original sin by which a third of the angels fell from heaven and became demons.

Pride is not the same as self-respect. Pride is independence from God.

The best way to guard against pride is to pray as much as you can throughout the day. Transform your thoughts so that you have a running dialogue with God.

Humility is dependence on God, and prayer is a way of reaching out to God and depending on Him to help you.

Every person is prideful to some degree, probably every day. What also really helps a person learn how to be humble and dependent on God is learning how much Jesus loves them.

Some of pride comes from feeling bad about yourself, even though that sounds paradoxical. When you have the confidence that God loves you, it is easier to ask for His help and to be less self-defensive when dealing with other people.

Jesus was very humble and He didn't feel any inner pressure to prove Himself to people, because He knew God the Father loved Him and He was confident in who He was. Although Jesus was in very nature God (the Son), He did not consider equality with God the Father something to be grasped, but humbled Himself, taking on the form of a servant (read Philippians chapter 2).

When we are humble, we can show love to other people better. That makes humility very important, because it is a road on which love can travel well.

I find if I say belittling things on Yahoo, that is prideful. I then feel guilty which makes me behave for awhile.
