Where did fur trading first start?

Probably as long as humans have been around. Furs were one of the benefits of hunting animals, along with food and bones to make things out of. At some point, people started bartering, so if you were a hunter and had furs, you could trade them to your neighbor for some bone tools. Things continued this way until money was invented.

You can still buy furs. While many animals are protected from being killed for fur, you can still get rabbit and mink furs at upscale stores, like Neiman Marcus. Just watch out for the evil eye from most people, because each coat requires hundreds of animals to die.
