Your parents are trying to protect you because most likely it ain't true love. True love is when you get married and live happily ever after. But not in todays world because kids break up all the time and also the divorce rate is 50%. Your parents want nothing bad to happen to you. They also don't want you pregnant with a baby coming in the next few months.

Babe, at age 12 your parents are supposed to be what you call "too protective." And at 13, and probably 14 unless you have a chaperone. How can you say you "adore" each other and then say "just friends"? I think you have more in mind than friendship.

I say listen to your parents. Although you may not think so, the know what's best for you. If you're not allowed to have one yet, wait and when the time is right, the right one will come along. But if that's what you really want and you think you're responsible enough, try talking with your parents about it so you guys can set limits on what you two can and cannot do and things like that. Listen to them cuz they know what's best for you.

You are lucky that you have parents who care about you. You see your parents as too protective--it is their responsibility to look after you. You are only 12 years old . Enjoy your youth while you can. You will thank your parents when you are older.

You're twelve, I'm thirteen.
And I'm telling you, NOTHING will come out of this relationship. It's not real. It's not, and I know that for a fact.
You'll be over it in three years tops, and you'll wonder what the hell you were thinking.
Your parents are not too overprotective. They care, and you should be happy.

This is what I tell my kids:
I have made every decision in your life from the moment you were born to get you where you are right now!
Now, because it is convenient for you, you want to question my ability to drive this bus?
In 10 years no one is going to care about who you dated, but they will care about what classes, clubs and skills you have acquired. Find something more positive to do with your time and you will be greatly rewarded in the future.

hun, you're 12! it may be 'real' in your eyes, but your parents are doing their job, looking out for YOU! Keep the friendship, but you shouldn't be trying to persue anything more. You're young, ENJOY IT! I have a 13 year old niece and she has her days that she thinks 'we're out to get her' when we're only looking out for her well being. trust your parents to know and to help you out. You're only young once, enjoy and relish it.

your parents love you a great deal . that is evident in their protectiveness of you at this time of your life. its very appropriate for them to be as protective as they are at age 12. why would you want them to allow you to engage in activitys which might place you in situations you are not yet prepared for. i only wish my parents had watched over me that well and it would have spared me alot of pain during my young girlhood.
they will gradually begin to let you have more freedom as you show them by your compliance with rules, respect for their judgement and mature behaviours , that you are ready to make safe, wise decisions about your life. i know you are just friends with this person but for now it needs to stay just that.
