think of what would happen if someone who knew the bible better than most shows up and happily points out the inconsistencies and moral dilemmas aplenty

wouldn't that be a good endeavor, invite an intelligent person to come share about the bible and report on their study of the same?

what? :-)

I didn't say gullible person, I said unbeliever

some unbelievers are that way due to actually studying and finding out things that end up being the undoing of faith

but as you see, people assume only dolts come to studies and are easily converted

I conducted a Bible Study for years and ALL WERE WELCOME.
It is through intelligent discourse that we all learn.

"happily points out the inconsistencies and moral dilemmas aplenty"

A person who happily points out what they think are inconsistencies and moral dilemmas is a person who is taking great pains to stay in their sins. A person who comes with an open heart who has legitimate questions about what they perceive to be inconsistencies and moral dilemmas is always welcome.

As someone who was an agnostic for most of my life I'm amazed at people who take so much time to find ways to discredit the Bible. I never gave religion a thought in my old BC (before Christ) days. Since becoming a Christian I find a whole group of people who seem to be preoccupied with finding fault with Christianity and the Bible. I guess the explanation is found where most of the explanations about human behavior are found, in the Bible.

John 3:19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his deeds have been carried out in God."

People don't want to be subject to divine authority. They want to be their own god and arbiter of what constitutes right and wrong. That's too bad because denying the truth about God's love and Jesus Christ doesn't make it false. It only ensures someone a place in the Lake of Fire when this life is over.

John 3:16- "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

How can unbelievers know the Bible better than Christians?

To understand the Bible you have to know God, unbelievers don't know God.
Christians have a relationship with God.
Only through Jesus Christ can the Truth be revealed.

But to answer your question, yes unbelievers are invited.

anyone is invited and all perspectives are heard. Perhaps the unbeliever may find the truth doing the bible studies and turn their lives over to God. All are intelligent for God made us. The ones with the wisdom are the ones who follow God and his word--

I hope you are invited to a bible study. :)

Dear "Voiceofreason":

You seem to think that faith is the only thing that is required to be a bible believing Christian, but you are wrong.

People have been comparing the bible with the facts and the history for around 2000 years now, and no one has ever managed to prove either the bible, or the authentic Christain faith, to be wrong.

No one.

Actually, That has happened before, and everytime it has, the individual was shown how he is wrong with rock hard solid evidence that cannot and will not be denied by any rational evidence.

And for your 1st question, Yes, all are invited and encouraged to come to Bible study, we have nothing to hide, Do you?

I invite unbelievers all the time but for some reason none have taken me up on my offer yet.

Be careful what you wish for.

At the end of the bible study, unbelievers usually end up getting infilled with the Holy Ghost.

Hallelujah!

I'd invite an unbeliever....no problem. Can't understand, though, how an unbeliever would "know the bible better than most"....
