I thought I had the links for these, but I can't find them. Google for Frostwire or Shareaza. Stay away from Bear Share. All the reviews I read said it was good but it messed up my computer so bad I had to do 2 System Restores to get everything back to normal

Yes, bearshare is also a good one, that is if you want to download just music and movies(because the newer versions retricts to that).
But then again, if you want to download from almost anything, since the Gnutella network is slowly dying out(Limewire and bearshare uses this protocol to connect peers) you may want to try using a BitTorrent client, it uses the BitTorrent Protocol to fetch anything you like from other people, whether it be from mp3's, videos, files, e-books, audiobooks, movies, virtually anything.
There is a vast no. of BitTorrent clients out there here are some
1. µTorrent
2. azureus
3. BitTorrent
4. BitComet
5. Flasget
I use the µTorrent client. Though the download may not be that fast, the trick is to get a torrent that has less leechers, more peers and more seeds.
You may want to read a wiki of how torrent works if you're interested in using it.
Now, for first timers, even I had a hard time figuring it out(even thought that it's a new type of sound/audio file), but for your convenience,
if you did a search on the BitTorrent program, it will open up the browser and redirect you to a site that lists all the files of your query. Once you click it, it will download a .torrent file, that is not the actual file you intentionally want to download, but it's just a file that tells the BitTorrent client/program where to get the actual files you want to download and from whom.

Yes, there are tons of p2p programs, and your right, limewire and bearshare are the bottom rungof the ladder. Virus distributers know this too and I know they target that market. The harder the program, the more likely it will appeal to a more knowledgable audience and the less likely that a distributer will target you. There is a saying, you dont Pi$$ in your own pool.

I use utorrent (available free at utorrent.com) and I have had great luck in finding good clean files. Always keep real-time monotoring on your antivirus and you will be fine. Use www.torrentscan.com or any torrent site you want to search for what you want. Click on the download and that is where utorrent starts up. try it out. Let me know if you need more help.
