You might look for a local Bible Study Fellowship group http://www.bsfinternational.org/
The Navigators also have the Design for Discipleship and 2:7 series that many churches use.

Personally, I'm much farther ahead than I was 5 years ago. It might be that it's not being taught in a way that you can fully comprehend it. It's not my place to say nor to judge. I know when I'm in study, I pray before hand and somehow glean all that the Lord wants me to learn. If you expect church to be your only source of study, you might be disappointed. True seeking Churches tend to pull people in and direct them to small groups where study and fellowship happens. Also pray before your service; you will get from it what the Lord wants you to reap. If you're not in a small group, get into one! That is the best source of growth out there. And you develop a good source of accountability and family as well. Try a once a week study. If you're not further ahead in a month, then there's something wrong. I'll pray for your growth.

Yes. You know those people who come knocking on your door some Saturday mornings? Ask them for one the next time they stop by. They offer free home Bible studies in which you actually learn from the BIBLE, and they don't move onto the next lesson until you completely understand the first. Any questions you have, they'll answer from the Bible; not from personal opinion like most people think they do. And all of that at no charge unlike the Church does.

You might want to check into the Keys of Knowledge group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Keysters/
It's on online study of life that is quite fascinating and certainly does progress. We've just recently completed an intensive study of Revelations. It isn't all Bible study but a large portion is. JJ Dewey leads the discussion. He's the author of several books, Gods of the Bible, Eternal Lives, The Immortal, The Molecular Relationship and many more. If you have an open mind and like to share ideas with others, you may find exactly what you're seeking.

I have been dealing with this same dilemma for years and I think I have finally discovered an answer! I found a book titled,"How To Study the Bible For Yourself", by Tim LaHaye. He breaks it down in terms that are easy to understand and that makes sense to me! It ( the book) allows me an understandable way to learn the Bible's major principles, key verses and themes, and an easy way to develop a study guide designed for ME! I think it is really worth looking into it and maybe trying it out. I hope you do and then let me know how you like it.... Blessings to ya! Oh..you can find it at Amazon.com or most Christian book stores. Mr. LaHaye is the co-author of the 'Left Behind' series, also some really good reading!

Yes! But I bet you keep turning the people who can help you away when they knock on your door. A lot of people don't take the time to listen to them. They teach from the bible and will not tell you anything about "The True God" without the bible. The next time one of Jehovah's Witnesses knock just listen. They are not trying to change you, they can't they are just trying to get you to read your bible and progress beyond 5 years and nothing, in act you will probally learn more in 6 months then all you learned in 5 years. In the bible at James 4:8 It tells you "Draw close to God and he will draw close to you". What have you got to lose, you already spent 5 years how about trying one more time, ask Our heavenly father to guide you to the truth and if you really mean it in your heart he will. I guarantee that.
And guess what the Bible study is FREE! Just ask the next time they come to the door. They can answer all types of biblical questions. If you need help contacting one just get in touch with me.

yes, you graduate to pantheism and atheism
bible studies are generally for the newcomers and a tool to control how it's interpreted from the gurus to the grasshoppers
if I was to go back to a bible study (big evil grin) it would result in many believers losing their faith thanks to facts and logic
I just may do this in my spare time and use what I have learned in my own bible studies to share with others and happily point out all the contradictions and moral dilemmas found in violent and hateful texts which are more about intolerance and behavioral conditioning than logic or evolving

Forget a formal Bible study. If you want to make progress, do your own study. Use your public library as a resource.
