She's just about finished with Kindergarten now. It never happens at school, or any other activity/sport. It mostly happens at home. Most recently, we went to dinner after church. We left the restaurant, and stopped at a nursery. I ran in to get one thing (15 minutes at most). While she was in the car with my teenage daughter, my 6-year-old pooped in her pants!!

I've threatened her, spanked her, yelled at her, put her in time-out, made her clean the underwear, etc. One day recently, she had five pairs of underwear in the sink soaking.

I'm going to make an appointment with our Pediatrician this week, and go from there. She's notorious for waiting till last minute to head to the bathroom -- leaking a little bit on her panties; and reeking of urine by the end of the day.

She is my third child, and I've never dealt with anything like this!?

Sounds like a psychological problem.
Any traumatic or big events happen recently?
Something bad happening at school? Is she in day care?
I doubt it's physical.

Good luck.

Maybe u could get someone else she trust to ask her why. I'm sure theres something else going on that u may not be aware of yet. Also I would stop punishing her, it' not working anyway, but continue to let her clean herself up. If there really is something going on then punishment will only let her know she cant tell u. My 5 yr old does this too and we used to punish but it didnt work so we stopped and kept sending her to change adventually she stopped to. And we also taught her to do her own laundry. Our theory is u make the mess u clean it up

If she waits to go the bathroom, chances are that her colon is to full and there is no where else for it to go but out without notice. I went through the same problem and went to see my doctor. We used mineral oil for about a month to regulate and I made him (my son) come in and just sit on the toliet different times of the day for 5 minutes until he learned to come in himself. But your doctor will know best so keep the appointment.

If there's been no recent upheaval or trauma in her life, I'd take her to the Pediatrician ASAP. She might have a condition called encopesis - which, to be short and sweet, is where they can't feel that they have to poop and it just comes out - without any control on their part. It is treatable though. (It's similar to a kid who wets the bed and doesn't know it until they wake up.)

some people has it worse- my cousin had to wear a diaper until she was 8. just dont scream at your daughter. its going to put pressure on her. ask her [privately] time to time if she needs to go to the bathroom. tell her that when she needs to use the bathroom, then to tell you (like if she's in the middle of some activity)

She's your third child - sounds like she's needing attention!!!
YOU need to give her some attention and stop leaving her for your teenager to watch and stop being too busy to pay attention to her!!!
Make her go to the bathroom more often - don't make her WAIT until you have the time!

She might be doing it for attention. Or she might really have a problem. I wouldnt punish her for it, it might be making things worse. Try to re potty train her. But be gentle about it, she may not be able to help it.
