Hi ;

I left a very good job in 2000 after fours years work to get a new career and went into further education for about a year...

In 2003 I went back to work for a not so good company i a not so good position because of the dip in the I.T. market infact people wondered why I was there?

In 2005 I left thinking I would never reahc my goal without leaving and three months later found work in my dream job Project Analyst....

In 2006 Mid way I left becuase this was not my dream role

I then took time out more

and then start of 2007 went self employed as I ran two businesses whilst I still look for more work...This year alot of agencies have been calling for work as a report writer but without data management systems which is what i think i should be doing

I never really got better work than my first job and think actually this is my comfort zone...I want to go back but am worried about the fact I left in the first place and then tried so hard not to go back!!

Help

Why would you settle to go back to something that's just plain comfortable? No great person ever achieved anything great by staying in their comfort zone. Back then, there was a reason that you left that job... the universe is working it out for you. Don't fight the current- just go with it.

I don't want to sound silly / nasty, but we are unable to answer this question, although you have given very good facts, the matter of fact is, we do not know all the ins and outs and only you will ever know that.
You personally need to sit and think what you want to do with your career and no-one can answer that question for you!
But I do think, that if you have had ask about going back, this is possibly not the right move for you - you should know!

Give them a call. What's the worst that can happen? Either they don't have an opening, or they aren't interested in having you back, so they say nothing is available - you're no worse off than you are now.

If you left on good terms and were a good employee, they would probably be happy to consider hiring you again if they have any openings.

Just contact them and see.

If it doesn't work out, do not worry, just keep looking.

They say "never go back" with good reason. it will have changed in the last seven years. You only remember the good bits. Put it out of your mind and move on.
