I think it is two pints of lager, bitter etc. or two small 175ml glasses of wine. The best thing is not to drink at all that would be better........

In the uk, the general practice is 4 units of alcohol for men and 3 for women, before being over the drink drive limit.

It always used to be said three - which was intepreted as 1.5 pints of beer or 3 small glasses of wine - however, that was in the days when beer was weaker than a lot of it is now, and wine was both weaker, and served in a glass that was smaller than the small you get nowadays.

The sensible answer is that if you are going to drink then do not drive. If you are unable to stick to that, then I would say no more than 1 pint of beer (and if drinking something like Stella, I'd be wary of even that much) and no more than 1 glass (175ml size) of wine - but less if the wine is 13% plus or more.

ABSOLUTELY NONE.

Your weight, age, height, built, the amount you've had to eat, tiredness etc will change your 'limit' EVERY time you drink.

Short of getting a brethaliser (which even then isn't accurate) NEVER have a drop.

Why not try these ideas?: alcohol-free lager, soft drinks, public transport, designated driver schemes, lifts home, walking home....

There is no guide. There are too many factors involved. Body weight counts, but then whether you are a regular drinker or not, what you have eaten, if you have drunk spirits with or without aerated mixers, if you are tired, ill - any number of things can affect your blood/alcohol level.

The only ways to know for sure are to either abstain or buy your own intoximeter.

To be absolutely safe, don't drink any, I lived through a period when a drunk behind a wheel was considered to be "Jack the Lad" Now I realise He is the worlds biggest fool

None. Do not drink and drive. Even one unit impairs your judgement. FACT. I'm sure you don't want to have the death of another person on your conscience.

Just one pint of lager to be on the safe side, although one can cloud you judgement. Its best to wait 30min before getting behind the wheel. If u have two then wait a hour or two.
