Ok, this may sound a little wierd but my dad had to have part of his tongue removed last week. I feel so bad for him because he is in a lot of pain and this was supposed to just feel "like he bit his tongue" Well it hurts a lot worse for him and he is still in a lot of pain A WEEK LATER! I'm sure he's hungry since he can't really eat and all he has been able to eat is mashed potatoes and like shakes and stuff. Does anyone know of a way for him to speed up his recovery process

it's up to nature as to how long it will take for him to recover. I do suggest purchasing some green powders from the health food store as they have a great deal of vitamins and minerals that will help the body fight to recover. Ask a person in the health food store to help you with which one will taste best.

make a soup with chicken, onions and garlic. Blend in the blender until smooth so that your father can eat this. He needs to be getting protein. Protein is the first building block of the body and will help with healing. yogurt is another good protein food.

I hope your father is on pain medication. If it's not working call the medical doctor and ask for something else. He should be made as comfortable as possible.

If he is having more pain than he should, this could be a sign that he is having a problem. He may have an infection? Please call the office of the Doctor who did the procedure, if they are not open, there should be a doctor "on call". Tell them what is going on, they will either have him come in to be re-examined, or call him in something to help. This shouldn't cost him anything, as this would be considered a "follow-up" from the procedure. If they call him in medication, this may cost something.
Please call them right away, he shouldn't have to suffer. He will heal better if he has less pain.
I hope all works out, and he heals quickly. Good Luck.
