Hydrocodone is a synthetic opioid analgesic. All of these drugs have side effects. Itching is one of them as is respiratory depression, slowing of heart rate, constipation, etc.
Some side effects you can develop tolerance, others like constipation, you will not become tolerant to. The amount of hydrocodone needed for pain relief depends on body weight, level of pain, how used to the drug your body is, that is, if your tolerant.
It is possible that you will develop too much side effects and that will prevent you from taking enough to experiencing adequate analgesic effects. Other related drugs may have a different side effect profile for you. For example if Hydrocodone makes you itch, oxycodone might not.
It is difficult to predict who will have what side effects at any dosage. Plus hydrocodone/acetominophen combinations have an upper limit of what is safe to take because beyond 3 grams of acetominophen in a 24 hour period can be very dangerous to your liver.
I would suggest talking to your doctor and maybe he'll put you on a different medication that has a better profile for you. 6 pills containing 500 mg of acetominophen is already 3 grams of acetominophen. That uses up your allowable daily dose of that med.

Itching is a side effect at high doses, so I doubt it's an allergy.
Hydrocodone is not tremendously powerful in the grand scheme of prescription pain relievers. If 10mg isn't helping your pain, you should tell your doctor and ask for something else. Taking more than two of the 5/500 tablets can damage the liver with too much acetaminophen, so that's not a good solution. I have a chronic condition that sometimes requires strong pain control, and my advice to others is that small amounts of strong medication are safer and more effective than large amounts of weaker medication.

Tolerance has possibly gone up. I don't condone drug use, but if you want to feel something usually snorting it will get it to you faster and longer. A lot of it could do with your weight as well. I'm 118 pounds and when I take a hydro 5 I'm hyper, etc. Smoking the weed will enhance your hydrocodone usage too. Or maybe your just so ripped your don't realize how good your feeling. Only you know, how you feel. Good Luck. Hope u feel better.

you could be allergic to it since you mentioned it making you itch but, you really should be asking your doctor and not us. hydrocdone is the generic for loritab and vicodin. The only difference between the 2 drugs are that loritab contains tylenol and vicodone contains asprin and both are very addictive and, if your allergic to it then it can be lethal as well.

You should be taking this stuff as prescribed by your doctor. It is a powerful narcotic and can be very addictive. Talk to your doctor about pain management using this medication.

Well it sounds like you are taking too much. But some people do not respond to drugs that other people do. Please talk to your doctor about your pain and he or she can try to give you something your body will respond to.

Geolicious is obnoxious skank who should keep her hairy upper lip shut.
The amount you should take is based on your body weight and concentration of the drug.
