Been there 3 times, and look forward to going again. Something about the "air" there... it even smells like the blues. The rich history, the live music every 100 yards or so, the FOOD ( Especially at the Rum Boogie!) Ahhh cant wait till I can go again!!!!!! If not this summer, then for sure in Jan during the International Blues Competition!

My dad is from eastern Arkansas nearby, so I have been there a few times, but the most memorable ones were in 1999, which included a tour of Graceland, and again about 4 years ago. Much love for the Beale! The people are so friendly and the clubs are kickin'! Saw a guy at BB's named Preston Shannon--check him out. I agree that there is just something in the air there that puts you in touch with the blues.

Have been there on 3 working trips and investigated blues history, too. See the Blues doc produced by Scorcese.
Try to go when a name act is playing at BB King's.
Unfortunately. Beale street is a Mall-ified, sanitized echo of the original which was all but destroyed in the late '60s. But its all we have so enjoy it while you're there. Schwabs for souvenirs! Hot tip: Breakfast at the Bon-Ton! or travel a bit south to the Arcade Restaurant. 540 S Main St.

Yes, I have. I have family in Memphis, and every now and then I make a weekend excursion there with my mom. I spent a lot of time there as a kid too, and I remember how I couldn't wait to be old enough to go in the fun places on Beale Street. Not that you have to go to a bar to have fun there, but I always thought I was missing out, as kids often think.

Yes I have been to beale street. I had a blast. But I know another place that people need to go if you are a big blues fan. About one hour to the south of Memphis is Clarksdale Mississippi home of Ground Zero blues club owned by Morgan Freeman. That is my favorite blues club in the world.

I have only been there once and that was in '89. At that time there was no BB Kings. We did hit the Rum Boogie and enjoyed the house band. It was great and would love to go back and take my kids.
We also hit the Peabody, Mud Island, Sun Studio, the zoo and Graceland. many things to do in Memphis.

I went to Beale Street while visiting Memphis for the W.C. Handy Awards. It was pretty much just as I imagined it to be, and was a great memory of a fantastic, blues-filled five days.

Hi
I've had the chance a couple times, I try to make it to the Memphis in May fest every year. I happened acroos it the first time by accident in the early 90's and actually got myself into BB' for his grand opening.

Yes, I was able to stay overnight there. I stayed out too late on Beale Street and was late getting back on the road the next day so I could visit Sun Studios too.
