Or is all this 'belief' a bunch of silly, half-hearted set of notions that doesn't sync with one's real feelings when it comes to actual behavior?

Act 1:7

We know about the end times but we have no control over its schedule.

Children are our future, but from the tone of your question, you really haven't figure that out.

As for retirement, it is just that. Preparing for a time when we no longer can work. If the end times does not happen, we will be ready. If it goes, we will be ready as well.

When you look at everything, you will find belief is the only thing that is yours. Your feelings may or may not dictate your actual behavior depends on what you belief.

You can believe what you like, but don't expect us to follow. Those "silly, half-hearted set of notions" make up who we are and where we want to go.

Maybe it is time for you reread the book.

Well, I've stopped having children and am in retirement so I'm not saving for it any more.

However, I don't believe we're in any 'end times.' That's just an excuse for people to waste fossil fuels, avoid conservation and recycling, and go around killing people they don't agree with. (If they're going to go to hell anyway, these nuts figure, why not help them on their way?)

It is simply a bid for control. In the game of billiards, you get points only if you can 'call your shots' so people want to 'call' the 'end of the world.'

Fact is, if all the people on the earth died, disappeared, or fell in a hole tomorrow, the planet would go on as usual, without a care in the world. The 'world' would still be here, just like it is still here after thousands of other species have gone extinct.

So, conserve, recycle, be kind, and help people, animals, plants and rocks. Fer chrissakes, you only get a short time on this planet, and if you spend it going around looking for doomsday, you deserve nothing but scorn in return.

Noone knows the day or hour when Jesus will return. We should be wise like the virgins that had plenty of oil for their lamps. If you will look back in history, how many times did people try to predict a date of the Lords return and gave away everything? If you will read your Bible,it tells you what signs signal that the end is near.

There were people thought the world will end soon, stopped having children & stopped saving for retirement since... 200 years before the Jesus.
Yet, are you sure you will live up to your retirement???
It's wise to save for the retirement,
but at the same time you should know we never know if we will die today or not....

No,life does`nt stop untill it stops.
Don`t worry about tomorrow, and yesterday is gone.
Jesus has it all with His Love on how to behave in this day.
Have a beautiful Memorial Day!

I believe that Jesus will return...

However I do not know if the second coming will happen in my life-time ... therefore I do save for retirement (the Bible tells us to be good stewards of our time, resources and finances).

Cordially,
John

I never started any of that stuff.
I had no idea I would be here as long as I have.
Damn, it's been a long tiring life.
I wish the end would hurry up and get here.

What exactly would you change if you did know the exact date? would you be better or worse than you are now?
when you think about the end of times happens when you die the rest of the world really isn't the issue.

Well, the kids are grown...no more to come...no retirement fund to start with--so, I guess I'm prepared.
