Anyone with strategic nuclear weapons is a threat. The fact that Russia's command and control system over the nukes and their aging early warning systems are not being maintained as good as they once were, make a threat to global peace more of a reality than most people are aware of.

The arsenals of the US and Russia can obliterate a million Hiroshima's.....

Russia is no more a threat than any other civilized country.

They probably worry about the US too. But the policy of MAD(Mutually Assured Destruction) lets both countries know that if one attacked the other we would both lose.

During the Cuban Missile Crisis President John F. Kennedy said this, "We will not prematurely or unnessecarily risk the cost of world wide nuclear war in which even the fruits of victory would be ashes in our mouth."

The real threat now is Iran. Some would say that Iran has a right to persue nuclear weapons. However, it will lead to an arms race in the Middle East. Based on what you see in the news everday, the Middle East is a powder keg.

Absolutely. I was interested in your question, and did some research on the subject. It turns out that "Russia's ballistic missile arsenal remains a threat to the United States,". Also, "Russia is the only country to possess a missile defense system already,". The United States is in the process of building a missile defense system, but it hasn't been completed yet. Also, both countries' defense systems "will only ensure protection against single launches, not mass strikes,". There is a lot more information on this topic at the source listed below. I hope this has answered your question!

Russia, not so much right now, though Putin is a little iffy. If you're going to worry about Russia, I'd be watching out for the Russian mob.

I've worked with a reservist who was born in Russia and got him U.S. citizenship and he has said Russia is not as interested in the US as they were during the cold war period. I think Russia has other issues to deal with then us.

Yes, there are still unaccounted for nuclear warheads that the Russian mafia or terrorists or anyone in Russia might have.

Yes they sell inferior weapons to the Chineese, Iranians, and anyone else willing to buy them. With the recent deaths of KGB defectors, we can never be sure of what the Ruski's are thinking.
