What does the Bible say is supposed to show that the return of Christ is near?
We’ll have nuclear weapons that is able to dissolve its victims (Zech. 14:12). When this prophecy was made, the greatest weapons were spears and swords!
Israel will have a peace treaty that the Antichrist will confirm and eventually break (Dan. 9:27). Who besides God could have known Israel would be threatened on all sides by enemies, and the U.S.A. would be trying repeatedly to get peace treaties adhered to?
Babylon would re-emerge in the land of Shinar (Isa. 13)—known today as Iraq. Saddam Hussein spent over 20 years rebuilding the city of Babylon.
Many wars would erupt (Mark 13:7-8). There were over 50 armed conflicts in the world a couple of years ago.
A global economic system would exist (Rev. 13:16-17). This was unthinkable in the decades after Jesus’ death, but entirely plausible with interconnectedness of the digital age.
The nation of Israel would be born in one day (Isa. 66:8). On May 14, 1948 Israel became a nation.
The Jews would begin to regather in Israel (Isa. 11:11-12, Ezek. 37:21-22, 38:8). Over 5 million Jews have returned to Israel in our times! Never has a people group been dispersed for hundreds of years throughout the globe and then regathered back to their homeland.
Israel would prosper economically (Ezek. 38:12-13). This recently regathered, tiny nation exported over 30 billion dollars worth of goods in 2004. In contrast, their neighbor Jordan exported les than 3 billion in 2004.
Surrounding nations would be united against Israel (Psa. 83:4-8, Zec. 12:2). Just read the newspapers or listen to the news.
Jerusalem would be a “burdensome stone” to all nations (Zec. 12:3). The news reports on conflict over Jerusalem often.
Israel would be partitioned by all nations (Joel 3:2, Dan. 11:39). Another amazing prophecy, for Israel has been divided ups as the West Bank, Golan Heights, and Gaza.
Israel, which had been divided into two kingdoms since the time of Solomon (950 B.C.), would be one united nation in the last days (Ezek. 37:15-22). And so it is now.
The Temple will be rebuilt (Dan. 9:27; 12:11; Mark 13:14, Rev. 11:1-2). Today, the Temple Institute has created the temple furniture, vessels, and priestly garments. Several hundred Jewish men are in training for the Levitical priesthood.

Apparently you have not read the Book of Revelation carefully, and have never read a decent commentary on it. The book refers to events in the past, present, and near future of the author and its original readers. Just look at Revelation 17:9-10, which makes reference to Rome (the city with seven hills) and to emperors, MOST OF WHOM HAVE ALREADY REIGNED when the book is being written.
My recommendation: Read the Bible seriously and carefully, don't believe everything you hear, and get a decent scholarly commentary on the Book of Revelation to help you understand it.

Lots of Endtime Prophecies are coming due. Have you read St Malachi? How about the Hopi? The Maya? Or the others that I simply have forgotten the names of? You'd have to be blind to be able to ignore them ALL.

ROTFLMAO!!!! People have been predicting the end times for as long as there's been end times prophecy. Just think what people during the Plague or the two world wars thought. Or how about the 100 years war. This is NOTHING compared to then.

Immature humans think the universe revolves around them. Since we start dying as soon as we are born, each of us is always in his/her own 'end times' so to speak.
The 'world will end' when you leave it--but it will only end for you. Therefore, it is part of your responsibility to conserve, recycle, promote peace, be kind to all you meet and rear responsible, loving and caring offspring.
Anything less than that, including 'awfulizing' and going around giving out doomsday prophecies to make everyone else depressed, is irresponsible and immature.
Sorry for being so blunt about this, but I've had it up to here with this subject.

We are living in a very scary time. It does seem that we are nearing the end. I was watching the history channel and they were talking about the bible code. It predicted all sorts of things including 9-11. It says the world should end in 2012. I guess we'll see.

It is humans who act and humans who perpetuate the past.
Therefore it shall be humans who shall be our undoing.
Unless a superior ideology were to gain ground in time.
Grim, but true.
The question is, does the end of days prophesy 'all' add up or are there gaps that beg to be addressed? That comes down to how willing one is to take prophesies in unquestioningly.

No, actually, atheists don't have to believe anything of the sort. The "end times" have allegedly been imminent for 2,000 years. Guess what? We're still here.
