Yes. Our long-range, well thought out foreign policy blunders of the past just keep on delivering the hits. I don't think we can even imagine the damage that this bastard bush and co. have done to this country....

The U.S. government has put it's own type of terroristic type of influence since the early 1900's, more than likely before that, but lets say 1900 to make it easy on all of us. We helped in overthrowing the government of Iran to put somebody in power that was beneficial to us; We told the English that we wouldn't get involved in another European conflict, so they let Hitler have his way to try and avoid another war; We wouldn't help Ho Chi Minh when he asked for our help in overthrowing South Vietnam's government when we knew in fact that the S. Vietnam govt. was corrupt; We aided Marcos in the Phillippines even when we knew that everybody hated him and he was more corupt than us.
There are so many more problems that the United States has created in this world that I cannot even think about going on. For once, I would like our government to stop and think about what might happen 10 years down the road if they do something, instead of thinking until the next election.
This country of ours is not the best in the world, and it's not the worst either. I served 20 years in the Navy and would do it again, because I feel that we have done some good in places that needed help (after the 2004 Tsunami, various earthquakes around the world, and so on).
We need to take control of our government and remind them that they work for us. Do not elect any congressman/woman back into office during the next election. This is the only way that they will learn.

Unfortunately, we did. This is from the era when both the US and the USSR were trying to reshape the world in it's own image instead of becoming part of the world community. Now we are paying the price. It does not make us terrorists tho. By definition a terrorist uses terror as his primary weapon instead of the traditional warfare. Just because we supported rebels in these other countries doesn't make us terrorist. It does make us responsible for their actions tho. GW Bush said so himself, at least that's what he told us his reason for invading Iraq was. They aided the terrorist, they funded the terrorist, they harbored him. So while I don't think that we ourselves are terrorists I do believe that our leadership does have responsibility for the actions of the same types of people that we hold other countries responsible for.

Answer: No
Recommendation: read some history about the last 60 years.
There is no such thing as "moral equivalence". Your attempt to apply that most corrupt of doctrines is pitiful. Quit listening to the professor and read some opposing views. You might even try an original source (what a thought).

The USA provided support to anyone who wanted to fight the Rusians in Afghanistan. So I guess they helped create al Qeda. it's not like they went out and recruited, but they did provide finances, a way to get weapons (avoid all those arms controls). OTOH, bin Laden had access to a small fortune through his family - so he wasn't as dependent on US help.
I suppose by giving general support, the USA helped create the Taliban. That group actually came from a bunch of muslim students who felt that the Russians and their Afghani puppets were not properly enforcing the teachings of the Koran. (no surprise) Because they promised to be more honest and less corrupt than the local clan leaders and warlords, they got a lot of support and volunteers and eventually won in most of teh country.
So the USA helped these guys get started, but it's not like they recruited and built their organization from scratch. If the USA had stayed out of it, they might be a little smaller andless organized, the but same nutbars would be in there with the same motivation.

What is a terrorist? A person who terrorizes; who seeks to fill others with terror or anxiety. By definition: THE MEDIA!

Yes, the CIA under Reagan funded Osama bin Laden and others to operate out of Pakistan and drive the Soviets out of Afghanistan.
Here's the irony: the Soviets were in Afghanistan to prop up a secular administration that was under threat by Islamist fundamentalist militants, the same alleged reason we are in Iraq right now.
We were operating under the discredited idea that "the enemy of my enemy is my friend". That's the same logic that has us singing the praises of the Sunni tribes in al-Anbar who are now fighting against al-Qaeda and trying to participate in the Iraqi government. They do not love us, and they want us out of their country. They see al-Qaeda as one threat, and the US as another, and they are certainly fighting both forces; the Qaeda-types because they don't belong there and are killing civilians, and us because we REALLY don't belong there.

Sorry, I wasn't aware that our troops were terrorists.
How are we supporting terrorists?
We're in Iraq fighing Iraqi insurgents.
By the way, it's Al Qaida. And for your information, the people you are speaking of, are insurgents and religious extremists.

You are right, we supported the Taliban to stop the spread of Communism. Now we must stop them to stop the spread of Terrorism. We are not terrorists, we are Freedom fighters. We don't kill people we liberate them. Please get on board with the propaganda before someone has to re-educate you.
