my dog is getting eaten alive by them when we go to our trailer site. we go on nature walks in the bush , but also just laying around they swarm all over her.

K-9 Advantix helps repel mosquitos. Don't use "OFF" or human repellents, they can be toxic. Avon's skin so soft can be diluted and rubbed on the coat and works well, but is kind of greasy.

as kimbeej said, avon's skin so soft works wonders. it's also helpful if her flea medication stops working for some reason and she's getting devoured by fleas. i don't know what it is about that stuff (it's just a moisturiser, it's not marketed as an insect repellent), but bugs HATE it. when i applied it to my dog, fleas jumped OFF of him.
we had a flea epidemic a couple of years back, and in the two days before i could get to the vet to change my dog's flea meds, i had to find some kind of home remedy because the poor thing was getting eaten alive (i was too, but i knew i could use skin so soft), so i asked my grandmother (the know it all of housewifedom) if skinsosoft was nontoxic (since dogs lick themselves), she said it was safe, and my dog was fine. anyway the point is, he and i both went from having maybe 50 flea bites on our bodies (it was horrifying, the vet thought the hurricanes in our area at the time caused the fleas to go nuts, it was an at least county-wide problem.), to having NONE. and I've had that stuff work for me in the florida keys, which if you've been there you know their mosquitos do not mess around: they will bite *through* your JEANS down there, man.
so anyway, in short.... skin-so-soft by avon: safe, effective, cheap. keep it out of the eyes though, obviously.

Mosquitoes seek out sugar in plants (and blood). Don't have sweet blood and they'll find it somewhere else. People are starting to understand that mosquitoes visit plants to look for nectar. A lot of people haven't learned about mosquitoes and sugar yet, it's being researched in Africa (research might still be ongoing).

The best thing to ward off mosquitos is sold by Avon. It's Skin so Soft buy it it REALLY works!!!

I just use a little bit of the OFF mosquito spray, I spray myself then I put my dog's head between my knees (so he doesn't get it in his face) and spray his body. It doesn't hurt them but they can get dry skin if you do this for a long time without giving her a bath. Good luck!
