Swimming is a great way to lose weight! You're body has to work against the force of the water and it's virtually no impact on your joints. Plus you use all of those little stabilizer muscles (the little muscles that you use on a daily basis for things like standing and sitting up straight) while you're swimming to keep your body moving through the water. There are even exercises you can do for strength training with foam dumbbells, or throw your legs up on the edge of the pool and do some crunches. Just make sure you're using correct form to get the full benefit of the workout. Here's a great site with workouts from beginner to advanced. http://www.worldwideaquatics.com/Workouts/workouts.htm

Swimming will help you lose weight. If you swim at a good pace for 30-50 laps you should lose weight. I am on the swim team and in the past two weeks I have lost 15 pounds. If you work hard enough, you will lose weight.

Yes, excellent. It takes work to push yourself through water, and doing a strenuous stroke like the crawl exercises pretty much all the muscles in your body.
One thing about swimming is both good and bad - it's non weight bearing. This is good if you have arthritis or some other form of joint pain. It's not so good for developing strong bones. However, only a small amount of weight bearing exercise will help a lot with bone density.

The first and best way to burn fat is to modify your current diet. There are three simple ways
you can begin to modify: reduce calories, reduce sodium, and reduce fat. For example, by substituting a glass of
water for a carbonated beverage, you can cut approximately 150 calories or more, depending on how much is consumed.
Even if it were fruit juice instead of water, you would still reduce calories by approximately 50 - 100..
what causes these unwanted gains in weight and bodyfat? There are three possible reasons this can happen:
(1) Eat late at night (2) Exceed your normal caloric intake (3) Lack of exercise or physical activity.
best way to speed up the metabolism is by increasing meal frequency. Instead of eating 2 - 3
meals per day, try eating 4 - 5 small meals per day, or 3 meals and 2 healthy snack meals.

Hi,
I've tried so many different diets in the last 10 years that I can say now, they don't work!
A few months ago, I came across a great product for weight loss and like many others I was skeptical about it. But I really wanted to lose weight and I tried it. The results were excellent and I lost 20 pounds in 2 months. I felt fantastic and I dropped another 5 pounds safely. That's why I recommend you check this product at http://www.get2itnow.info where they have a free trial and you only pay 6.95$ shipping and handling.
Good luck!

swimming is great exercise almost a perfect exercise, but for women it will do little to help lose weight the way you probably want to lose weight. Being submerged in cold water for a considerable amount of time will add a fat layer to your skin, watch they olympian women swimmers not one of them is shaped the way you would think such a fine tuned athlete would be shaped.

Yes it is! I just started swimming too and going to do it tomorrow. It works all your muscles and doesn't put a lot of pressure on the knees like jogging. I would rather swim than run...
