Hello. I have a W-2 form for 2006 and I was going to file my taxes for 2006 at my local income tax office-but the office was closed for the season. Where should I go to file my tax return for 2006? Should I go a site like www.turbotax.com? Please let me know-I'd like to have thisatter taken care of as soon as possible. Thank you. :D

Most franchised tax prep companies are required to keep on office open. Call the 800 number for the company you are looking for and they will direct you to an open office. But the IRS is still free.

You file your tax return with the IRS, not with a local tax office. The local offices are tax return specialists, like H and R Block that fill out and file your return for you (for a fee). You can call the IRS and get information on where you can obtain forms and where to send your return. Some H & R Block offices are still open if you need assistance. You are supposed to file by April 15th, though that particular day fell on a holiday weekend this year and there was a huge snowstorm in the Northeast that both extended the filling deadline by a few days. Just because you are past the deadline does not mean you cannot file. It is more difficult because the forms and such are not as available. You can also get forms, at a fee from turbotax.com

You can use an online site like turbotax.com, or can go to irs.gov and download forms or file from there.
