Hydrogen peroxide, isopropyl alcohol, witch hazel, or something else? I have an active two-year-old who seems to continually get scraped up, not to mention she scratches her mosquito bites until they're bloody. Any recommendations?

Plain old soap and water. Then cover with an antibiotic ointment like neosporin and a bandaide and a kiss. All those things like you mentioned are not recommended anymore.

I'm a RN in a place where we get lots of bumps, brises, and cuts. This is our standing order from the physician. Of course if it is more serious than a simble cut, it may require Dr's care like stitches.

Hydrogen peroxide is great when used right after an abrasion has occured, as it helps clean the area well. Then apply some Neosporin, so it will heal faster, & keep scarring to a minimum. For mosquito bites, apply rubbing alcohol right away & the itching should cease. You can also apply some Calamine lotion to insect bites as well. Solarcaine is another great anitseptic spray when ouchies occur. It temporarily numbs the area.

I find that Hydrogen Peroxide is most helpful in dealing with small cuts, "for it bubbles away nasty germs" and it doesn't hurt very much. Just a little, for mosquito bites I find that using a paste of Baking Soda, tends to draw out the chemical mosquitos use to allow blood to flow. Just wet some Soda, place on the bite then bandage it. Colorful bandages work best with children.

{peroxide} either will work just keep it covered use ointment and dirt will not get in the cut as easy and it will heel faster. 4 the bites there are some anti itch sticks u can take with u where ever u go. if u have onion and garlic in you are sweat glands mosquitoes and ticks will not bite as much specially ticks.

Usually is good enough to wash it thoroughly with soap and water. If you want something else, hydrogen peroxide is the best. But even if you put hydrogen peroxide, you have to wash it thoroughly.

I have found with my kids, who get whopping mosquito bites when they get bit, to keep them from scratching them I used isopropyl alcohol, it stings initially, but it takes the itch away.

hydrogen peroxide is fine, always use neosporin, as for those pesky bites, it is an allergic reaction pediatrician can prescribe allergy med. i almost forgot if peroxide and neosporin arent available use pure honey on cuts and abrasions as it is natural anti infective, until you get restocked first aid supplies

well personally i would use just good old soap and water initially then use a antibiotic ointment like neosporin...stay away from peroxide since it can damage tissue and worsen scarring.
