Well I follow the Bhagavad Gita and according to the Bhagavad Geetha, the body and life in it are based on food and sustained by food. However great and learned a person may be, however much he pays attention to the teachings of the Vedantha and takes care to spread them, if he neglects the strict code laid down for the food, he cannot succeed spiritually. The food we eat is an important constituent of the physical and mental stuff we have to struggle with, in the spiritual field. Purity of food leads to purity of mind.

It can be a very strong contributing factor. I have food intolerances... which means that when I eat the "wrong" food I can't feel love, and I feel very irritable. I had depression for seven years until I figured that out... and rarely felt close to God for that whole period of time.
A friend of mine told me a little story last week regarding food, and how it can impact on the soul...
Someone did an experiment on prison inmates, in for violent crimes. They removed all the junk food and gave them only wholesome, fresh food. Their behaviours improved so dramatically that the prison guards were no longer being attacked. The inmates behaved like normal people. Unfortunately, the budget didn't allow for this food trial to continue into the long term. The prison inmates returned to their unhealthy diet, and also returned to their violent behaviours.
Purifying the body can indeed help in the quest to purify the mind. Sometimes a body overburdened with toxins just can't produce the brain chemicals and energetic receptivity that is necessary for a person to experience God.

It can help. That is why so many faiths have or have had dietary restrictions. The body, mind, and soul are all one unit, not independant of each other. But diet is not enough for total purity.

food cant think and you dont know what it has eaten or what was in the earth it consumed , but i do know some great desserts for stress diets starting with
BREAKFAST:
* 1/2 grapefruit
* 1 slice whole wheat toast
* 8 oz. skim milk
Lunch:
* 4 oz. lean broiled chicken breast
* 1 cup steamed spinach
* 1 cup herb tea
* 1 Oreo cookie
MID-AFTERNOON SNACK:
* The rest of Oreos in the package
* 2 pints Rocky Road ice cream nuts, cherries and whipped cream
* 1 jar hot fudge sauce
DINNER:
* 2 loaves garlic bread
* 4 cans or 1 large pitcher Coke
* 1 large sausage, mushroom and cheese pizza
* 3 Snickers bars
Late Evening News:
*Entire frozen Sara Lee cheesecake (eaten directly from freezer)
RULES FOR THIS DIET
1. If you eat something and no one sees you eat it, it has no calories.
2. If you drink a diet soda with a candy bar, the calories in the candy bar are canceled out by the diet soda.
3. When you eat with someone else, calories don't count if you do not eat more than they do.
4. Food used for medicinal purposes NEVER count, such as hot chocolate, brandy, toast and Sara Lee Cheesecake.
5. If you fatten up everyone else around you, then you look thinner.
6. Movie-related foods do not have additional calories because they are part of the entertainment package and not part of one's personal fuel. Examples: Milk Duds, buttered popcorn, Junior Mints, Red Hots and Tootsie Rolls.
7. Cookie pieces contain no calories.
8. The process of breaking causes calorie leakage.
9. Things licked off knives and spoons have no calories if you are in the process of preparing something.
10. Foods that have the same color have the same number of calories. Examples are: spinach and pistachio ice cream; mushrooms and mashed potatoes.
11. Chocolate is a universal color and may be substituted for any other food color.
12. Anything consumed while standing has no calories. This is due to gravity and the density of the caloric mass.
13. Anything consumed from someone else's plate has no calories since the calories rightfully belong to the other person and will cling to his/her plate. (We ALL know how calories like to cling!)
14. REMEMBER: STRESSED SPELLED BACKWARDS IS DESSERTSts

Its true that....When we eat the food based on the food our body & mind works. The purity of food means not only...quality of the food...It is involved who & on what situation the food is prepared... The definition of pure food is who cook the food he/she should be prepared the food in the remembrance of good & with +ve vibration & It should be served to good first before eat to add the power in it & remove other obstacles from that...

I certainly have been a vegetarian for over a three hundred and sixty 5 days and a one million/2. i don't decide or look down on people who opt for to consume meat. in certainty, I in basic terms have one chum (my brother) who's a vegetarian additionally. something of my acquaintances and kin consume meat. (I say this because of the fact vegetarians are often unfairly accused of being boastful or questioning they're extra helpful than others. i don't and that i never tell anyone else what to consume - I anticipate a similar from them.) besides, I do experience distinctive spiritually. i think a extra robust connection with nature... with the lives of the creatures around me. i understand that could sound stupid, even however this is actual. it fairly is the path I certainly have chosen; the path it fairly is powerful for me. i like it. i think great.
