Well if he's that old and doesn't cause any problems for you, then I don't see any reasons that you would need to get him neutered. If he's an out door cat, I would consider it though. But maybe consult a vet and see if a cat that old is okay to be neutered. (Which I think it would, but you never know...)

Stopping spraying is low on the list of reasons to neuter a cat anyway. It's primarily done so that they don't contribute to the overpopulation of cats, and to save their future health - unneutered male cats and dogs are at high risk from developing prostate and testicular cancer when older. Apart from anything else, he must be very frustrated because an intact male cat's mission in life is to mate!

I would advise you get him neutered. Even if he's an indoor-only cat it's important for his health - and if he's allowed outside then it's extremely important because he'll be out there impregnating any female he comes into contact with. I can't tell you how much it would cost because I don't know where you are and prices vary drastically - just pick up the phone to the vets in your area and ask for quotes.

If you want the chance of your cat getting cancer there, go ahead and not neuter him. Spraying isn't the only reason we get pets neutered, go look the process up.

If he is not neutered he will be more likely to get the urge to get out sew his wild oats. If he is not spraying then that really is the only reason.

You should get him neutered, It actually stops them from getting alot of diseases, and it makes them more affectionate and loyal to people because they dont feel the need to have a lady friend. :P

i talked to my vet about it when i got my cat and she said its a good idea even if theyre an indoor cat. -- mines an outdoor cat neway tho.

you should get him neutered because then he won't get other outdoor cats pregnant, and the worst ever would be homeless kittens!! oh, it is just too sad. so get him neutered, it is actually quite cheap here!! =]

You don't have to get him neutered if he lives inside and doesn't spray. If he is outside, he will breed and produce more kittens, and he will tend to fight more and perhaps be exposed to disease like FELV and FIV.
