I have worked (as a therapist) with OCD patients, and you do sound like you have some of the symptoms. It sounds like your compulsions are getting in the way of your life, and that's the classic definition of problems. You need to consider going to see a mental health professional to get checked out. This could be a MsW, a psychologist, or a psychiatrist. There are some drugs that might help, and also some newer therapy treatments that are quite effective. I would suggest doing it soon because if you have OCD, the sooner you catch it the less trouble it will cause you. Good luck.

The symptoms you describe could indicate a few different things. If you are concerned, I reccomend that you describe your symptoms to a mental health professional. Seeking diagnosis from anyone other than a health professional is an excercise in futility because only a physician knows to collect family history and knows what is important about family history. A mental health professional is also going to be the most well versed on diagnoses, diagnostic tools, and treatment.

You are just obsessed with things being clean. I would advice that you stop now, and in the future, it wont get worst. But ocd would be more like you have you wear a certain thing, doing basic things a certain way (like brushing your teeth). And being or thinking too much about dirt and little germs. Maybe you should watch monk on USA (television station)

According to WebMD you could possibly have OCD, your symptons are listed on their site. Here's what it says "Obsessive-compulsive disorder is a type of anxiety disorder, is a potentially disabling illness that traps people in endless cycles of repetitive thoughts, fears or images (obsessions) that they cannot control. The anxiety (nervousness) produced by these thoughts leads to an urgent need to perform certain rituals or routines (compulsions). The compulsive rituals are performed in an attempt to prevent the obsessive thoughts or make them go away."
I have a mild form of OCD and have been controlling it for the past 10 years with antidepressants. I hope you wll be able to find comfort as well -- I know how miserable it is. Hope this helps!

No you dont have OCD. Theres a name for what you do have though, and its some kind of phobia.
The human body is equipped to handle germs. Its those blamed viruses that wreak havoc. (AIDS)
Is this the only things you have that worry you ?

Everybody has OCD in one form or another. Everybody. Me? I shake stuff before opening it. Everything from milk to potato chips.Do not ask me why, I am just insane like you are. My dishes have to be steralized as well. Do not feel bad you are not alone.

Only if you ask this question twice ;-) Have you tried to overcome/ignore the impulse to rearrange the room for, say, 1 day, and then allow yourself to rearrange. How uncomfortable did it make you to wait? Yes, I would see a therapist for help.

Not necessarily. You COULD have an anxiety disorder, not necessarily OCD. Hard to answer just based on what you have written. If it interferes with your life you should seek professional help.
