Is it worth while getting Lino through out my house or Laminate? Lino would be cheaper and is way easier to fit (not that laminate is difficult).

What are the plus and minus points to Lino over Laminate?

Lino is very good these days . You can get non-slip for kitchens etc. Laminate is fine, but you need someone to fit it and it takes a lot longer to fit. Also there is a lot of sawing involved and, unless you are very careful, all that dust floats about the house while the work is being done. No good for children or asthmatics .
I bought some very reasonably from ebay. they had some very good designs including laminate design, tile design, and various others including special designs for children. Can't say it's cheaper though.

Laminate is easier to seal at the edges. Some lino / lino substitutes will shrink over time. This leaves gaps at the edges and presents a cleaning problem.

Laminate if good quality will be better than lino because it will not rip.But spend the most you can because the cheaper ones look cheap! The only advantage to lino is that you could get it wet.But lino will never look like a wooden floor because it tends to be shiny.

Laminate will hold up a lot longer than lino, and it will look a lot better. Laminate is very strong, hard to scratch. If you make one bad cut with laminate you throw out one piece, If you make one bad cut with sheet goods like lino you can scrap the whole area (granted it would have to be one real bad cut) I say laminate. Good luck

Lino is cheap and tacky!! For a small kitchen and/or bathroom, lino is ok, but I wouldn't use it throughout the entire house. I would go for laminate - looks so much better!!

no i think lino looks cheap, go for laminate it looks much better and isn't too much more expensive and is worth it in the long run. I bought my laminate flooring over the net and is fab stuff. Cant remember what site it was from now tho.

you can't put lino throughout your house it would look awful!!
ok for a kitchen or bathroom, but elsewhere i would definitely recommend laminate - lino is so much more eassily damaged!
i used to be a true wood snob and i'm sure if i had the money i would be still but having tried laminate due to circunstance i would say it is great, just don't go too cheap and take your time fitting it to get it right!!
these days you can get all sorts of laminate in great colours and styles, not just wood effect.

Solid wood first, then Lino or Amtico. I'm assuming that you mean REAL lino (Marmoleum), not vinyl?? But Lino can be difficult to fit, needs to lie at room temp for some time. Some lovely finishes available.

Cover the floorboards in plyboard to give a smooth, flat working surface. You can buy a cushioned underlay that makes the lino softer to walk on, but it makes the lino far more prone to denting by shoes etc. If you want to seal the edges after laying, wait a week or two to allow the lino to settle, otherwise you can end up with lumps or ridges.
