Atheists aren't given to 'beliefs'. We are mostly motivated and guided by reason and humanistic values.

There is no atheist creed or dogma or manifesto. Actually the only thing we atheists have in common is a lack of gods...

Pretty much the opposite of Religious Beliefs.

We all have the right to our own Beliefs, but they still remain Beliefs, no matter which side of the issue your Beliefs fall on.

We also all have the right to have Knowledge, but very few are seeking to gain Knowledge, we're too busy trying to validate OUR Beliefs and invalidate other Beliefs.

we do not believe that there is a God, gods, supernatural beings that govern the earth.

We have morals and ethics, but they are based on common sense and humanistic codes rather than the Bible, etc.

We do not believe in either heaven or hell.

Lion Of Judah- You are making a broad generalization. You cannot go to the National Baptist convention, as assume that what they speak of there is upheld by every baptist in the nation. I am an atheist, and I am not pro homosexuality, I am not zealous for the cause, and i do not attend meetings, etc. The atheists you witnessed are very 'in to' what they believe. I guess, just like Chirstians, there are MANY back-row atheists. I am one of them.

Lion...

Everything you mentioned is normal human nature...
It has nothing to do with religion... We are a social animal and we rejoice in being around people that are like us. Especially since there are so few atheists comperably...

And in large crowds there is always the phenomenon of mob-mentality (even if it isn't in a negative way)....people start to conform to the crowd... This isn't always positive but it has its advantiges.

You are right in that if we are Atheists...there is the idea that we are up-to-date with science and studies and we should perhaps not act like people...but that is just not plausable.

theres not really any belief of an atheist. More like dis-belief; an atheist is just someone who does not believe in God, not someone who opposes god (of course there are atheists who oppose god).

The only common belief is that there is no god or gods. We don't have some arbitrary doctrine to follow. On other issues we are quite varied.

We believe there are no gods.

And no capital A, please. We're not a club.

Lion of Judah: Has it occurred to you that you'd see these same characteristics at a Multiple Sclerosis convention, or a national Beer Salesmen's meeting? That's what happens when like minded people get together.

Try thinking that perhaps your religion is like a gang, not the other way round.
